The downside of believing anything is possible is that in order to do so you have to believe literally anything is possible (and quite frankly I would rather believe anything is possible than the opposite), therefore I do not discount the possibility of what we refer to as "ghosts", however, I do believe that if they truly do exist than they are likely very different than what our fiction portrays.

Well I can't say for sure I heavily suspect not for a number of reasons.

One a lot of the people that make these claims are not very reliable. I had a roommate a while back who claimed he had seen ghosts, and met aliens, and had an out of body experience, and seen Bigfoot and so on.

Two is how exactly does the spirit work with the physical aspects removed. Well I'm not completely against the idea of a soul we know a lot of what governs out personalities and emotions goes on in the brain which is a very physical thing and removing that kind of makes it odd as to how things would work.

Three is as Bunz mentioned there's so many people that have lived and died so wouldn't the earth be crowded as hell with all the ghosts? Even if it was just those who died with strong emotions there would still be billions roaming the earth probably.

Four I can't say I've ever experienced anything particularly supernatural. Sure there's lots in the world that goes on that I don't understand but that's different for me.

I believe so, in fact, I wish there was an actual paranormal division of the government that investigates Ghosts or Spirits or w/e.

Opinions, thoughts?

NOT A BELIEVER

I have yet to experience anything "supernatural" or any kind of otherworldly experience.  Oh please I've even visited a haunted house and nothing happened overnight.  Nothing, zip, nada...

So share your thoughts.

Do you believe or not?

If they do exist I'd like to see the actual evidence... I might change my mind..

If ghosts truly did exist we would have an overwhelming amount of evidence by now to show that they do. There are literally thousands of teams out in the field doing research and performing investigations of ghosts and they have all come up empty handed. Another thing to keep in mind is that the ghost hunting business is a very lucrative one for those who are interested in turning a profit. It's important for television networks and those selling merchandise to keep the public interested in the ghost phenomenon.

As for my personal opinion on the matter, I am open to the idea of some energy perhaps lingering on after death, but I wouldn't say I believe in ghosts in the traditional sense.

I believe so, in fact, I wish there was an actual paranormal division of the government that investigates Ghosts or Spirits or w/e.

I think we already waste enough money searching for bigfoot.

Don't know. Maybe? I mean, life seems too short for it to be over after we die. Like where does our consciousness come from? Where does it go after death? Is it all simply chemical reactions in our brain? Or something else? What makes you the only you? That thing that distinguishes you from others. Personally. I don't really care.I plan to live for as long as possible so its a question I rather not discover any time soon.

I have a hypothesis:

If we don't have soul and there is no afterworld, we won't experience death-time. We directly go to our next life as human, bird, alien etc. as we gain consciousness in another form even if it takes thousands of years, it will be just one moment. I call it Materialistic Reincarnation.

Or it will be simply one of these fates: 1) Wandering Soul 2) Spiritual Reincarnation 3) Afterlife

If its reincarnation I imagine Buddha or whatever hosts a game show called wheel of Reincarnation. Spin the wheel and whatever it lands on, that is what you come back as. And since time is a construct created by humans it can be past present or future.

Buddha: Oooh..so sorry you landed on Chinese peasant who is a women..in the 1200s....on the Mongolian border...welp! Better luck next time!

In those years anywhere in Asia was a screwed up place (just far south and island-y kingdoms were safe). The wrath of heaven "Genghis Khan" would make sure your life is doomed.

One of the few interesting things that Being Human (the UK version) did despite jumping the shark in it's later years, was speculate that unless they have something to connect to, ghosts find themselves simply fading away after a while?

Such a thing would explain the lack of ghosts floating around... that even if people did manage to stick around for a while after they died, after a hundred years or so, the world, culture and perhaps even language spoken would be so different, they'd be completely lost?

Like say, imagine how a ghost living in Germany would have handled all the changes that happened to that country over the course of just the last hundred and fifty years, from unification, two world wars, division into East and West, reunification, to taking a centre stage in the EU?

All those changes in such a short period of time would be pretty alienating, all told?

Sounds similar to the Hindu Wheel of Life (Thank you Mordin for bringing it up).

I have a similar opinion though it's reincarnation in another universe.

When you break it down, it makes no sense. All the criteria for ghosts should indicate that almost every location on earth should have them. People killed in horrific ways with unfinished business? That sounds pretty much like any battlefield or warzone on the planet, times thousands given the death-per-capita of these battles. But these places aren't haunted, and instead that one hotel is because of one tenant one time? An insane asylum where probably less then 100 people died is more haunted then a POW camp site?

Even humoring the idea of ghosts existing, when one looks at the history of the human race, the entire idea simply falls apart.

In locations like that it was theorized(Not the best word for the subject) is that there are too many spirits and they just sort of blend together, creating more of an atmosphere than a haunting.

Lol have you ever seen one?
How many credible people have you talked to that have seen one?
If they did exist and after so many years humans have been on earth, they should be everywhere or at least more common of an occurrence for this to be real.

1. Yep.
2. Many including former atheists who were more sceptical than me but converted to belief in "something above" after their experiences. Despite the claims of others above me in this thread, this hasn't been to make profit since they don't go around selling their stories (or even speaking them).
3. Maybe they are a common occurrence but unless you're omniscient, you can't really say. How many see ghosts daily but dismiss it as something they're imagining?

If ghosts truly did exist we would have an overwhelming amount of evidence by now to show that they do. There are literally thousands of teams out in the field doing research and performing investigations of ghosts and they have all come up empty handed. Evidently you think a spiritual realm should have physical evidence but the hint is kinda in the name. If you're expecting empirical evidence from something non-physical and non detectable, you'll be waiting until the end of time.

Regardless, who is say what the evidence is when so much "evidence" has been thrown around? With the amount of fake evidences, researchers would have a hard time separating fact from fiction, more so when much of it relies on video recordings and photos (and with digital manipulation being so well done now, this makes work a lot harder for any researcher).

So for me it's one of those experiences you must experience in person, you'll know the truth but it'll be anecdotal evidence to everyone else but given the millions who have reported paranormal occurrences since the dawn of humanity, all of different beliefs (or lack-thereof), I'm not one to throw all claims out of the window in this field, more so when there is arguably evidence of NDE and OOBE being real spiritual experiences (with numerous cases being recorded of where patients have reported seeing what is happening to them even whilst unconscious).

Given that many skeptics and atheists are inclined to believe in multiple realities and other dimensions, I do find it humorous that they reject the existence of a spiritual one which would very much be natural if it exists (and I have strong reason to believe that it does). However my evidence is only anecdotal, so I'm afraid it won't convince anyone. However, anyone who hasn't experienced anything would have to be omniscient to say "there is no such thing as an afterlife or spirits" and given that the people who say this aren't omniscient (which they have already demonstrated) I think it's fair to say making such absolute statements is foolish given our knowledge of this universe is small and even smaller is our knowledge of possible dimensions and "realities" that may or may not exist outside of this universe.

I say keep an open mind.

I ain't afraid of no ghosts.

But you're probably afraid of Ghost Nappa eh Vegeta? Vegeta? Vegeta? Hey Vegeta? Vegeta?

Ghosts do exist, they basically exist in various forms. however, here are some ghosts that are very evil or demonic in nature. they can physically harm you in any way. they also can do things to you as well.

I won't say which kind of ghosts that I can lay it out for you to know. because it wouldn't be proper for this forum.

suffice to say, I had previous experiences with certain kinds of ghosts that has been here since I was teen.

Haha, it's kind of funny. Cassandra has made some posts in the past that caused my eyes to bleed, and have annoyed me so much that I died a little on the inside. But I actually kinda missed their posts for that very reason. Weird lol.

OT:I do believe there are. Years ago if you had asked me that question I would've laughed in your face and walked off. But as I've gotten older I've had some truly bizarre, freaky experiences and I'm much more open to the possibility of their existence after.
