Flemeth lying or just misunderstood?

I've seen a lot of people on this forum claim that Flemeth says a soul can't be forced on the unwilling, which given what happens with Solas leads some claim she was lying.

But what Flemeth actually says is "a soul IS not forced upon the unwilling", which could mean something quite different.

Peehaps it is not done because it is a taboo, or because there is a negative consequence, or some reqson we haven't guessed.

But the point remains is != can't!

What do you mean what happens with Solas? You mean the end bit?

Yes the end bit. Although it's debatable what exactly what is happening, there's plenty of folks that see it as one forcibly taking over the other, and therefore assuming Flemeth was lying or wrong. But it doesn't have to be either, even if it was a soul thing happening.

One way or the other, it (the decision) tells me she has a very mortal soft spot for this particular daughter and her grandson.

Do you remember how Morrigan had the choice to drink of the well of sorrows or not? A choice on her part, but she didn´t have any warning about becoming her mother´s slave.

So the whole "a soul is not forced on the unwilling" is just bullshit, Flemeth would have tricked Morrigan into lowering her defenses and accepting her gift (the robes of posession), so there you go - Morrigan makes a choice not knowing the full picture, but for Flemeth that´s good enough. It is not forced, you need to agree - i only have to trick you to do so.

@Mykel54:  "Morrigan makes a choice not knowing the full picture-"

My opinion.  She got what she deserved.  Who makes such a stupid choice.

"I know this is called the 'Well of Sorrow' and that there's a 'price to pay' but SURE I'll drink from it."   She's an idiot and her mother's just sad she raised such an power mongering twisted little imbecile.

Lesson:  Don't make choices you know come with a heavy price... when you know neither 1) the reward nor 2) the heavy price.

...because it was datamined from a cinematographer's guide script of unknown timeliness.

Solas is a pretty old god, you know. Or as Cole said:

"He was their adversary all this time, but she made him forget, so he could change."

We don't even know if Solas took Flemeths power, or Flemeth gave it freely. Or Flemeth possessed Solas or they become one. Until writers say something everything we think is just speculations.I think Flemeth gave power to Solas freely.

Yet she still does not force her soul on her anyway? That kinda throws your theory out of wack.

Flemeth is Elven goddess as well. And you put to much emphasis on "god". Inquisitor defeated 2 self proclaimed gods and he just human. Solas is just elf.

And elf with alot of knowledge over spirits. Added with the way they were talking, Solas sounded like he was about to do something horrible he's going to regret in the name of his ideals.

Added, it explains what Flemeth was doing to the mirror before she met Solas.

That's your theory. Read around the forum and you'll find many others. And the scene itself is deliberately ambiguous so there's no way to know which is right until we get some clarification in the future.

And Flemeth have alot of knowledge if not more Flemeth live longer Solas just sleep. Added with the way were talking. Flemeth send small part of herself to eluvian for Uthenera maybe or smother else. And give rest of the power to Solas because they are friends. Warden killed Flemeth I will be really surprised if Flemeth actually dead.

This is my point we have no idea what happened.

I think Flemeth is most certainly lying. But she loves the selective lie by omission. Witness her dialogue with Solas.

I agree with you. He does plan on doing something horrible that is why he needed more power. Just look at what he already did in a weaken state: He gave the orb to Corypheus. He doesn't care how many he has to go through to get what he wants. I'm guessing that means bring back the Elven Empire = bad day to be human.

Was not it Weekes who said "Solas took her [Flemeth's] power but not godhood"? Sounds to me like a confirmation that Solas took something from Flemeth, not Flemeth forced anything on him.

What I took from it is that Flemeth gave her power to Solas so he can finish whatever they are planning to finish. My opinion is that both of them (Solas and Flemeth) are misunderstood.

So, I believe her. Guess we will see.

No, it's not ambiguous. it's not a theory. it was done that way as a cliffhanger. Flemeth is dead not the dread wolf.

You do understand that the power she puts in the mirror is for Morrigan.

Good point!

No doubt Solas is one charming BAD BOY and that is why so many like him. Having said that Flemeth is still one of my all time favorites.
