if you are a veteran or current military for this Memorial Day or other celebrated day in your country
Us Navy 6yrs
Thank you for serving sir.Us Navy 6yrs
4f here, but thanks to all those who have served
Saw title, came in expecting a lame "challenge" or competition. Pleasantly surprised.
Thank you to all who serve.
Same here so much spam lately I didn't know what to expect coming in... pleasantly surprised.
Thank you to all the men and women who serve.
No service for me, but a special shot out to my sister who has been in the National Guard for over 20 years, and to my dad, who served in the Navy for four years. Thanks to all!
I guess that only applies to US military?

If other countries don't have days for those that paved the way for them or defend them...that is pitiful.

Well, ours is called "People's Mourning Day" and is in November. It's always a Sunday, so we don't get a day off and for most people the day passes unnoticed.
I was in the army but never in combat. *shrugs*

We have
Armed Forces Day
Memorial Day
Veterans Day
Independence Day
POW/MIA Day
Pearl Harbor Day
Some are less known that others, but we try.

See, that just feels weird to me. At the time service was mandatory, so it's not like I had much of a choice. I could have cited religious or moral reasons to do community service instead but that could have been even worse. Rifle or bedpan, difficult decision. ![]()
It's not like I helped anyone or affected anything while I was a soldier. We just trained all the time, we didn't actually do anything of value. Unless you count the negative value of destroyed equipment. ![]()
You can thank someone who voluntarily goes into a combat zone to help people... but not me. I didn't do anything, I just looked good in uniform. ![]()

Oo
Well... seems the military is quite important to the US culture. That might explain your gigantic defense budget.

I think you guys are confused with Veterans day. you should really be honouring those who sacrificed everything, and their lives to serve. thank those who gave their lives.
and before I'm called out for being insensitive, I was in the Army. Memorial day and Veterans day are different.
do Canadian army count?
do Canadian army count?
it's a national holiday, but regardless, any sacrifice should be honored.

read my OP again, I said any country
To me. We cant have enough days to honor true heros
that could be true, but with how everyone treats the day, it's just thanking those who serve while disregarding the entire point; thanking those who served and died in duty.
to me, we can't have enough days to honor those who died being true heroes.
