I should differentiate between military service by individuals, and military conflict by countries, but in my lifetime, I can only really remember the first gulf war, and assistance in various UN peacekeeping operations (Bosnia) where US military involvement (and UK for that matter) has been justified.  In many of them, it has made things far, far worse.  Perhaps a bit less celebration of the military would be a good thing for the world.

People are people.  In most cases, it's the countries leaders, and not the citizens, who are at war with each other.

 

Ever see those "reunions" of World War II veterans, 80 year old military pilots from U.S. meeting pilots from Japan and talking and sharing tea and having a good time.

 

America is a great country.  Its leaders, not so great.  But that can be said for any country, really.

From everything I know the JTF2 does get some respect around here.  I also know that when we gave a Canadian sniper our superior ammo after he was having some trouble.  Better powder and a boat tailed bullet.  He beat out ole Whitefeather for the longest sniper shot ever.  Held the record for 2 days.  That's impressive.

You know, this topic is too super serious for Sinful (and super off-topic too. Wonder who's going to blow the whistle on this one? Maybe on of those guys that keeps liking mod posts that lock threads? Like we don't need to stick together against too much moderation. Like we aren't family. I do believe a bill was just passed to rectify this issue. But yeah, I agree handing out armored personnel carriers to civilian law enforcement was probably a bad idea lol.
