In my quest to make weapons better and using ruins etc to get the most damage out of what I have, I am collecting a lot of weapons that I can't salvage which I don't really understand as I can't see ever using them again. Any idea what the reason is behind this? Case in point, last weekend in the community chest I was grateful to receive a wicked bow which I upgraded, last night I received the same bow in a chest and I have a better ruin to attach to it however I can't salvage the old one.

Just curious as I am going to have a lot of weapons that are of no use to me but could use the crafting materials.

You need to back out of that screen to confirm the weapon swap before you can salvage them.

Basically, you're able to salvage anything that's not equipped, there's just a temporary special scenario where you cannot mark items for salvage that were recently equipped that you're confused by.

TL:DR Go back and salvage your junk.

Still not working, the weapon and or armor is not attached to any character, I even did an exit of the game went back in and tried to use the Y button to mark as salvage, it keeps saying it's not salvageable.

You also can't salvage inquisition (starter) weapons. Armor is not salvageable, but armor upgrades are.

Sorry for the pic quality but here is an example and I have a pile of stuff I want to salvage, image showing it's not attached, pressed Y to salvage and it will not highlight so I press X to see the stats and it states non salvageable

OK, that makes sense then...thanks. Reason (main) I was asking is the archer for example, I have so many types of armor all with the same protection, I just wanted to get rid of the stufff

You can't salvage armor.I wish it was an option though.

This. Every time I see an armour variant pop up as an item reward I groan, they're worse than bad items, at least bad items give you salvage parts.

No! I only have 18 sets of armor left to craft. Must. Have. Them. All!

Or think of it as a chance to build variable armor sets for different build synergies and elemental resistances.

Although, I wish they did not take up inventory space. Once you get close to having all armors and class skill rings unlocked, inventory is almost always full. :(

Interesting, I was going to ask if there was a cap like SP< I can see this being a pain down the road, I have purple weapons I will probably never use but because they are purple I can't bring myself to salvage them:)

My understanding is armor doesn't count towards item cap. I have zero motivation to dig through the boards and source that though.

Ah, Pokemon syndrome. An entire generation of gamers left with an inexplicable urge to obtain everything. Curse you, Nintendo!

I was managing 3 blockbuster locations when that came out. It's my son's generation. For me they're like GI Joes. What's this? A new cobra soldier dressed slightly differently, I'll take 2 please.
