Of course you can. It you alt tab, you're not afk

Don't play gold pugs (or at least be more selective)

I had three games in a row end in wave 9 wipeouts.

 

But aside from that haven't seen "Mission Failed" in some time

I've probably only played around 80 Plat games, but I've only had a single Mission Failed - I was playing with an AHF team and we managed the wave 10 credits but there was too much laughter to focus on mopping up a wave 10 Collectors game on Hydra.... on PS3 - better to take the money and run.  

 

This is not a reflection of my skill as a player, more my skill at choosing appropriate teammates to go into Plat games with. 

 

My failure rate on Gold must be somewhere in the 5% range, I guess.  Probably lower, tbh, especially if I'm with friends.  My failure in Gold Solo attempts is faction-dependent - I can manage Geth with no problems, but certain Cerberus and Reapers waves will give me serious problems unless I'm on Giant.
