They're temporary, this weekend only currently.  Last weekend they had special chests that contained Dragon's Calls.

You would experience temporary chests with pretty damn good loot which makes it worth spending 2400 gold on a chest, added up with a fun new map with Dragons.

 

I do not know what has happened, but this last month has been pretty damn good for Multiplayer. It is a fool's hope, perhaps... but if every month will be like this month or somewhat similar, then hot damn.. I might just become disgustingly optimistic again.

I'm not convinced cotton exists anymore, which was the entire point of me buying the Mage chest...

Yea these chest are a very welcomed change. i hope they either stay or become a weekend thing. As in here every weekend or possibly every other weekend. or who knows reward us with these chest every time we complete the community challenge

even a slightly watered down version of these chests would be nice, the 1/5 unique rate is a bit much to hope for as a permanent thing.

Even with Mage chests, cotton is rare. You get silk, silk brocade, and plaid weave at a much higher rate generally.


Particularly, tier 3 imperial vestment cotton has a very low drop rate, even compared to tier 1 cotton drop rate. Therefore, Mage chests, which only contain items that fall within the tier 2 or 3 category, only drop imperial vestment cotton.

Cotton drops more with lvl 1-12 items and has a higher drop rate than imperial cotton. Stil moderately low.
Your best bet for imperial cotton is to salvage all the extra superb runes and dupe high lvl staffs you are going to have lying around.
For cotton good old BS large chests and treasure rooms are your best bet. Salvaging lower level staffs and non-superb runes.

The problem here is there are not only less sources of cloth than other materials, but cloth isn't even a freaking guaranteed drop. I've salvaged Mage armor upgrades and runes many times that spit back out leather and/or metal.

I'm just happy they're adding stuff like this, just sucks that these came out during Witcher 3 week!  Going back and forth just to get in on it.

Nah, there'll be a new wave of items/weapons that will turn all our top tier shiny into garbage.

DAMP has another year in it at least.

Or they are about to implement a ME3MP style weapon upgrade/dupe system and will be releasing a hardcore nightmare mode.

The latter has been all but confirmed already.

Oh I forgot to mention new wave of items as well.

I bought 6 and had 1 low level purple staff. Can't see any different to standard large chests, to be honest. Just twice as expensive.

Agreed. I have most items that I want already; however, it was purple-palooza for me when I purchased 2 Rogue chests today. Going to switch to Mage chests if I can get on tonight as I'm getting short on cloth again.

I've bought quite a few now 55-60ish, and they are way better than regular large chest, but if you have bad luck it really seems that way.

 

I haven't gotten anywhere near the great items that some people are pulling, but they are better than the regular chests.

The RNG is really sticking it to you isn't it.

I haven't played much today and the best thing I got is the superb ring of attack.

Superb stamina and cool down amulets still elude me.

Yup, it sure is, nothing new for this game though.

 

I still need the sup attack ring, although I don't know if I'd find a place to use it if I picked it up.

nobody will ever buy the other 1200 gold chests now. Rather save up until the class chests come back.

I got waaaaaaaaay too many superb runes from them.  No good weapons, a couple of ok accessories but still better than large chests.

I got my 11th Longbow of the Griffon from a Rogue chest today, yet I still have neither Punched by the Maker nor Blade of Red Birth.
