24 hours on the Nürburgring is much better.
Also lolFormula 1, although it used to be better.
They aren't mutually exclusive.
Monaco today was godawful, as usual. F1 itself is pretty uninteresting at the moment unless you're a Mercedes fan, not that single team dominance is anything new in that formula.

Being the only Hoosier here I felt it was my duty to mention it.
You're not the only dude from Indy here. That said, you are the only Hoosier.
I'm a Californian by birth and choice. It just sucks that I've been trapped in that god-forsaken state (Indy is the extended middle finger of the south after all) for almost ten years now.

I'm a Ferrari man till the end. Through thick and thin, I will be with them. Dad on the other hand is a McLaren man. And he's just plain disappointed at their lack of success, though we both knew it was inevitable. Honda isn't what they used to be. My dad has a history with auto racing journalism and PR for several teams, and knew several of the drivers. He still does. He's at the 500 right now I believe, probably in the Media Center. He knows just about everyone in that field.
But I'm at a cross-purpose with Ferrari. I can't stand Sebastian Vettel. And he's wearing the prancing horse of the Scuderia on his shirt and hat.
I still cheer for the Kimi, but he's getting more and more bizarre each year.
I don't mind Mercedes either. I think it's good for Nico. I don't like Lewis much: too much of a diva, and I hated him when he was McLaren's golden boy. Then again, I suppose it goes in cycles. I didn't much care for Alonso, until somebody I disliked worse came along. Then Alonso put in a respectable run at Ferrari (even if they did **** on him: I know Ferrari is a jackass to their drivers, but I still don't love them anyless).
But you're right though. F1 just hasn't been interesting in years. I keep up with it more as a custom than I used to. Now, it's catching a race every here and then, when, say, 5 years ago, I was staying up at 2:00 in the morning to watch a race on the other side of the world.

I actually kind of got it but wasn't sure at the same time because I'm a big fan of the old Model 2 & 3 Arcade Racers. Like Daytona USA 2, Sega Rally, Indy 500. But this is nat in the hat, so who could be sure?

Open wheel racing beats Redneck Racing any day of the year.
Even if Indy Cars are essentially doing the same exact thing. Road courses beat ovals any day.

nasty accident, but I'm glad that we haven't as of yet had another Hinchcliffe after the dark cloud that was hanging over the practice and qualifying sessions.

If I had to choose teams, I like Enstone (Lotus) and Sauber most out of the current lot. Of the big teams, Ferrari is probably my favourite, and I do like Kimi if I had to pick a favourite driver (though yea, he's had some odd issues ever since moving back to Ferrari), or Grosjean, though I don't see him ending up in a good car anytime soon unless Lotus get some good designers on board.
I used to dislike Vettel but after that serving of humble pie last year he seems to have mellowed a bit. Frankly I'm just happy that someone not in a Mercedes is occasionally making it almost seem a competition (Kimi too, when he's not drink driving or whatever).
LolMacca, what a joke. Alonso trundling around in that sack of crap is a disservice to the fans and competition.

Right now, I'd say that Daniel Ricciardo is my favorite driver overall, along with Kimi. Massa is alright, but I met him once and he was kind of a dick. The thing that made me like Fernando was how cool he was with fans. He went out of his way to talk with people, sign autographs, and answer questions in a humorous manner.
I can never forgive Red Bull or Vettel for screwing over Mark Webber. He was one of my favorites from the time, and a really good guy that was good with fans. Met him twice, and he remembered me (or had the courtesy to say that he did) when I met him the second time 2 years apart.
Indeed it is. McLaren is on the downturn right now. Every team goes through it at some point. Ferrari are seemingly coming out of their slump, though it was thankfully pretty minor compared to the ones in the 90's, the 80's, and the 70's especially (prior to Lauda coming in). My dad stands with them, but he acknowledges that they're on the decline. Any true fan knows that there are times when your team just plain sucks.
Lotus is the underdog team that I think you have to be nuts not to love.

I only support Ferrari when Schumacher had driven for them and now due to Vettel. Rosberg won't win the Champion (again), because Hamilton is much better.

JPM!
Found another gear in the last few laps. Was edge of the seat stuff for a bit, but Power just had nothing left for him in the end.
Takuma Sato did well to come back as much as he did after that first lap accident. Wish Simona had gotten at least a top 10, but she's never been particularly good on the ovals.

I've never met any of the F1 guys. Only race I've had the pleasure of attending was US 2013 (last chance to see the V8's in person), which was great. The paddock is quite a bit more exclusive than say Indycar or sportscar series because it is so much more popular and expensive, but your impressions pretty much match my assumptions.
Red Bull is easily the least favourite team I've right now, but I like both of their drivers. Dan seems a nice guy and Kvyat I admit I mostly like for nationalistic reasons (I liked Petrov too) because he doesn't get as much exposure. The team itself just seems to be filled with pompus jerks at the top level though, threatening to quit and hypocritically whining about the rules now that they don't have the dominant car anymore. Their tactics have also never been the fairest (clear No1 driver policy, "clever" intepretation of the rules that they seem to have gotten away with because of money).
Ferrari has been okay for the most part during the last few years (last year and 2011 excluded). I'm sure they don't consider constantly being the bridesmaid to be acceptable though, but really no one not in a Red Bull or Merc has really had a chance at the titles in the past several years.
Lotus/Enstone is just hilarious, and clearly there to race instead of just for brand recognition or some other corporate nonsense. I like Sauber and Williams for the same reasons. Sad that the sport is so financially difficult that they need to employ Maldo just to keep afloat, though.
