This is clearly a fac-simile but not the original.
What was your reaction when you saw Hawke?

"Wow... why does she look so ugly? She doesn't look the same as she did in DA2 at all"
I wasn't surprised to see her since I had already seen her in the trailer, so... I was just confused why she didn't look the way she did in the trailer. :'(

I was quite thrilled, though like others, I was concerned. Heroes don't fare well in Bioware games. At the end of their adventures, they are either dead, or scarred. If they come back, they end up dead (looking at you Shep). I have only left Hawke in the Fade once (warrior Lady Hawke, romanced Anders, slew Anders, sided with mages), while the others I have saved them. Though hearing what I have heard now...I think Hawke needs to high tail it out of Thedas...seriously, what other horrible things can (WILL) they do to Hawke?

One initial thought I had was that the familiar Hawke theme seemed a bit out of place against the rest of the game's soundtrack.

EDIT: Do we know if Sebastian's in the Chantry or not? My Hawke who romanced him says yes, but the War Mission Board says no.
Mission Table read more like he was on a kamikaze mission to flambee Anders...funny I don't remember programming in the Keep that he lived. Hmmm.
Yes, I loved seeing my F/Hawke looking hot, my Inquisitor was a bit more respectful for F/Humorous Hawke. Like Varric, Leliana, Cullen, Anora, Allister, etc, I've always love the slight reinvention of their looks. I'm super grateful the redesigned Isabela for DA2 (great throwaway line to Alister about how different they look).
Hmmm might have to look how she was modified in multiplayer. Does she appear anywhere that I have missed in DA:I outside multiplayer?

My reaction was:
YEEEAAAHH, IT'S HAAAWWWKKE!!!!!!!!!!
Then, I thought I could have had the chance to thank my boring inquisitor for all the great work, move the glowing hand/breach-closing power to my Champion, sent the inquisitor on a tour with a one way ticket and keep playing with Hawke as my protagonist.

"Who are you and what did you do with the REAL Champion of Kirkwall?"
Because that LI-abandoning angry derp is not my Hawke.
At least they got his hate of blood magic down, though. That surprised me. But it still didn't redeem the terrible and pointless cameo in my eyes... like seriously - Hawke is here to help with Coryphytits, so why does he leave after the Fade?! Why can't you send an Inquisition agent to Weisshaupt? Why can't I leave Vivienne behind in the Fade instead? She could've distracted it with vicious words!
I also couldn't stop thinking about how totally doomed he is when his tiny angry boyfriend finds him.

"I CAN'T MAKE HER LOOK RIGHT!!!"
Even default, there was something funky about her hair. Custom, no way I could get her looking even close.
Then there was an "Aww, my baby is so sad... she probably should have killed her crazy boyfriend. Wait. Then she'd be sadder. Shoot, should have romanced Izzy. Wait, did she bring Carver? Can I romance Carver? I WILL MAKE HIM FEEL SPEC- oh, she didn't bring Carver. Or her crazy boyfriend."
Later, "Oh, god, good thing she didn't bring her (warden) crazy boyfriend and/or brother. I would hate to kill them!"
Then, "NOOOOOO" /ragequit stare at the screen reload ragequit again cry make hard choices reload get angry vote to have sacrificed blackwall repeatedly and get mad when it doesn't work ragequit some more perform a cass and throw a book at the wall
Having said that, on later playthroughs there was also some "Since when did you start palling around with Loghain? How did you even meet him? He wasn't at the Chaunte and you've never otherwise been to Orlais!"/"Leaving behind Anders is understandable as Corph is involved, and Isabella is probably mature enough to deal with being alone (and comes to the Inquisiton anyway), but you do realize you are the only one capable of making Fenris/Sebastion/Merill not make incredible stupid decisions? And you basically ran off on them? If I end up leaving you, they're going to come after me with magic spirit hand/a whole freakin' army/blood magic, aren't they? Ye gods, girl/boy, you ain't that bright.."/"I don't mind you getting in to pissy fits with Stroud or Loghain as they can handle themselves, but look, Alistair is pretty much Generic Good Guy and clearly has nothing to do with this whole blood magic scheme and is as devistated as you are seeing his organization betrayed by moronic decisions and blood magic, so can you please stop being a complete ****** to him?"/"Oh, hey, it's the Hawke I hated who let Bethy get run through HEY STROUD YOU GET TO LIVE FOR ONCE"/"Geez, aggressive Hawke, bitter much?"/"WAIT NOOOOOOO DECISION /RAGEQUIT"
...Yeah.
DA2 was my least favorite in the trilogy, but I was surprisingly more attached to Hawke then I thought I was. Ali and Loghain usually win over her/him, but Stroud... yeah. Save for my standard jerkass!Hawke. I think even Varric hated him back in DA2, honestly...

Excited, I've always been a fan of Hawke. I was actually so excited I went with the default face by mistake, had to reload a save to make my Hawke look right... oops ![]()

My first thought was, "Wow, mages have gotten really good at the gender-changing surgery!"
My second thought (after getting over my grumpiness at myself for discovering halfway through the game that I'd completely messed up my world state and then taking forever to "fix" the Hawke I'd been dealt) was, "My Hawke is the cutest guy in the room. This feels kind of weird having one version of myself feeling attracted to another version."

I felt that way when I first saw Varric too. I love my DA2 gang! It was wonderful to see my beautiful Hawke come down the stairs, as her theme played. I was smiling.

I was a little unhappy at first, because I was hit by the bug that changed my character's voice, so I reloaded a previous save and avoided meeting her until the issue was fixed...
Regardless of bugs and stuff, I was and still am very happy of the way Hawke has been handled in Inquisition.

"Who the heck is this guy?"
I'm late to the party, and even later to playing the second game. Only now, after 10 hours or so into DA2, do I understand the fans' reactions. It was my fascination with DAI that brought me back to the DA universe, and pretty much forced me to get into DA2 (which I had previously ignored). I'm only doing it for the story and characters. The game itself (as a game) feels crude, and simply unappealing. Good to see Varric, Cassandra and Cullen in their former selves. And Hawke, well, now I know.

"Goddamnit, now I need to reload."
Seriously, I spent about a hour reloading and staring at a screenshot of my DA2 Hawke, trying to get them as close as possible. Eventually I had to settle for "close enough". (wasn't even that close...)

Yeah, I hear that. I had a set of tattoos that I used for my mage Hawke. Wish they had been included. I've gotten...close. I actually improved on one, but that wasn't hard. My first attempt at making faces in DA2 were...um..unkind to the human face.
I was tired, and had no idea what I was doing. There, I said it. ![]()

I kinda expected him to be in the game, like fiona. And when I met him I thought "I wish I can kill you", just like fiona. Bioware delivered.

The worst for many of us Hawke lovers is if we used mods to make them unique looking. DAI's lack of mods can really ruin the effect that some of us painstakingly went through for that perfect Hawke look in DA2.

My reaction was "Finally, the only DA protagonist worth caring about has shown up" followed shortly by "if only Hawke were the inquisitor, I might actually have had some feelings towards the main character of this game."
