I know, Sim. I know. That paragraph had bigger asspulls than an entire arc of Bleach.
Because of the heart tbh

No, Refusing to accept things beyond your own perspective is close-minded.
I think that games can be like movies (quantic dream) or books (visual novels) or even TV shows (telltale games) thing is even these have some form of interaction, a game where you just sit back and watch the thing play would be pointless. They should just make an animated movie or show in that case instead of being hindered by hardware.
Nah, fun and replay value is all that matters. A good story is just a bonus.
To be fair it is possible that Saren was trying to uncover what exactly the Protheans did to disable the relay to dark space in the first place. He knows the Conduit is a thing but that's about it.
Well Saren is just a puppet of Sovereign, who appears to be telling him that the Conduit means the return of the Reapers.
However, even not knowing what it is Sovereign does know that Saren just needs to get to the control console in the council chambers on the Citadel which provides a logic loop for the story:
> He needs the Conduit because he can't just walk into the Citadel without Spectre status
> He lost his Spectre status because he attacked Eden Prime
> He attacked Eden Prime because he needed the Conduit

You're refusing to understand or to even consider that something can go against the definition of the medium that you have established. So, Yeah, That's really it.
By "something" you mean your opinion. How is it close-minded if I don't agree with the aspects of video games you place importance in?
Kubo plot-twist, Ichigo, the immortal physics defying wizard is actually the son of Zeus and a hispanic window cleaner...
So what were we talking about? Mass Effect now?
"FTL drives are devices which allow ships to travel at FTL speeds through space. FTL drive cores work by exposing element zero to electric currents, creating mass effect fields. It reduces the mass of an object, such as a starship, to a point where velocities faster than the speed of light are possible. With a mass effect drive, roughly a dozen light-years can be traversed in the course of a day's cruise without bending space-time and causing time dilation." - The Codex
And when I played Mass Effect I was bothered by how horse **** this explanation was.
Low mass to the point of being capable of moving faster than light?
Photons have mass, for Rezzus sake, how much mass are we talking here? Because let's take a look at this shall we?
You are moving faster than light, so you are un-able to directly observe the world around you. Light, although very small, still has mass and is effected by gravity.
Light doesn't care if it smashes into a planet or sun because that white dwarf a few thousand lightyears back altered it's course a little, but the spaceship might, in fact I'd say it's a glaring flaw of FTL.

And i never said videogames should be just cutscenes. I mean that a good story is crucial to make a videogame great to me. Makes the experience superb and truly artistic. And that's how a videogame can reach its highest potential.

It's not that. It's that you're stating that your vision is the one that should be mainstream and refusing any other vision. As a matter of fact, I have nothing against your version of what a game should be. To each their own.
You ever notice how the people who complain about others being close-minded, are the same ones who are so adamantly stuck in their ways as well?
Oh irony, whatever would we do without you?

Haha. I was just playing devil's advocate, I think my head just exploded.

And that's pretty much it. Enjoying a story possibly more than the interactive elements is fine. But to throw the importance of that interaction to the wayside is disrespectful. Because good video games always embody that interactivity in some form, even the story driven ones. Persona is a pretty story-heavy franchise but the mechanics in place to provide a great dungeon crawling experience is just as important.

Some VNs can be pretty low on interactivity, can they not? When I was reading about Saya no Uta it sounded like there were only one or two actual choices in the game. But I don't know if that's just choices with consequences or choices period.
That's why 999 will always be the right answer. All those different puzzles and endings depending on the path you take. Hawt.

I think it can be explained by the E = 1/2 MV2 equation, That when a mass is decreased, The velocity is supposed to increase to create the same energy. That when a mass is decreased to such a great degree that the velocity get faster than light.

Well yeah a game with a good story is always going to be preferable to one without though a good story is not a requirement.

Yeah some are. There's also Kinetic novels which have zero interactivity.

I used to think Mass Effect 2 compromised the overarching plot of the series (and I still think it did in some ways), but now that I really think about it after reading this, Mass Effect's plot was just as convoluted and nonsensical as its sequels; maybe even more so.

Mass effect just suffered poor planning from beginning to end. Still a fun series though with some pretty cool characters and a pretty good lore.

To further explain the idea of FTL travel, According to the mass-energy equivalence formula E = mc2, an object travelling at c would have infinite mass and would therefore require an infinite amount of energy to reach c. That's why according to Einstein's relativity, Nothing can go faster than the speed of light. But since we don't know much about dark energy, Mass Effect devs used it to sustain FTL travel. Which wasn't fully explained because it was supposed to be an addition to the mystery of the reapers as dark energy was supposed to be a big part of the original plans for the trilogy. Star Trek explained it in another way by using the wrap drive, By changing the C, The speed of light of the environment, So that we can go FTL. And that idea of the wrap drive may have been accidentally created by NASA lately.

Ahahaha
I wouldn't go against Grav on this one.

And these are the things the next Mass Effect need to take advantage of. There's way too many unique stories you can tell to be stuck with grand, unfulfilled plot after grand, unfulfilled plot. I don't know what route BioWare is trying to take the next game but it shouldn't be another Reaper scale threat.

Why are you guys seeing this as a pissing contest? I don't get it. He may say something that i have missed and I'd totally change my mind, No problem here. Or it could be the opposite.

They should go for more small scale plots. SWTOR shows they can do it.
My main point is not about how much a theoretical Mass Effect field could reduce the mass of an object, but that likelyhood of running into things you can't even see coming would be astronomically high.

I would not complain about another Imperial Agent like storyline without all that needless MMO grinding wrapped around it.
