Cassandra bug? She suddenly has roughly -200% defense

I'm not sure what happened but suddenly Cassandra has gone to have horrible defense. She used to be my strongest tank but I noticed recently that she dies almost instantly in every battle. I checked her defense stats and she suddenly has -197% magic defense, -181% melee defense, and -184% ranged defense.

Not sure what happened. Must have bugged last time I assigned her a talent point. I tried using a Tactician's Renewal amulet to reset her points but it had no effect. Guess I'll have to use a different character for my party for the rest of the game now (I'm already halfway through a nightmare playthrough or I'd just start over).

Has anyone else had this happen to her or another character?

Does any of her gear have the Berserk ability? That would do it. Don't ever use those :P

What the hell! Yes! I just checked and her ax has that stupid 200% berserk. I didn't even notice that when I equipped her with it.

Thanks!

Yeah, they balance changed Berserk in MP since it wasn't worth it ever.

...on warriors.

If you're fighting a dragon over a large level gap (4 or more), it will paste you in one hit, even without berserk gear. So the +10/20/30% damage means it gets less chances to hit you, while the -100/200/300% defense has no effect. Many rogue dragon solos use berserk gear, since rogues have enough movement abilities to dodge all damage from a high dragon.

There's also a fun little necro build that combines berserk gear with heal-on-hit to take advantage of Simulacrum.

But yes, for any character that relies on passive defense rather than evades or resurrection tricks, berserk does more harm than good. :D

It is awesome on Immortal Necromancer builds.  That is where I use it.
