What exactly makes the combat system suck in your opinion? It functions just like every other third person shooter out there...It reminds me a lot of Gears of War, which is a good thing.

I think the problem here is that you simply may not be used to third person shooters and the combat is much different from ME 1

Edit: Also, If you are running out of ammo in ME 2 you are doing something horribly. Heat sinks drop from nearly every enemy and are all over the place. Learn to aim your shots instead of just firing everywhere.

well first off you are playing on casual so that might affect the AI and im currently a infiltrator and the only ammo problem ive been having is over using the hand cannon... thats about it

Agreed. Other than the hand cannon, ammo is a non-issue. Using the right weapon at the right time is your best conservation tactic. As well as judicious use of powers and abilities.

Im a adept, I have 3 weapons,

Pistol, sub machine gun, heavy missle launcher.

Dont give me this bull cxrap about right weapon, im out of ammo, period

Pistol has (forget how many, think its 24 from full to empty)
Sub Machine gun has 18
Heavy Missle launcher has 4

Thats not alot of rounds when your opponents not dropping any

I barely fire my damn guns, mostly I use biotics.

I really wish people with no clue wouldnt answer for others when they DONT KNOW.

You need to research weapon/ammo upgrades or find better weapons to increase the amount of heatsinks they have.

I have an Adept as well and I still never have problems with ammo. Aim for headshots and only shoot when you know you're going to hit your target. This definitely sounds like a skill thing more then a problem with the ammo system.

Edit: I'm seeing a lot of comments in here about how the shotgun and rifle only hold so many rounds and blah blah blah. You guys do know that if you keep playing the game you eventually find new weapons and upgrades which increase your ammo capacity right? Right now my Soldier has a Sniper Rifle that holds 64 rounds and a shotgun that holds 30....Just keep playing the game.

What exactly is wrong with the "ammo" system? I could see that if you weren't real careful on Insanity you could run out, but beyond that, I see nothing wrong with it. If you are just upset that ME2 has ammo and ME1 didn't, then that's just an invalid argument against it. The change was needed as ME1 combat was far too easy.

Yea anything below Insanity should have no problem with ammo.  Unfortunately for me, I'm playing Insanity and with the Infiltrator you will run out of ammo.  I have gotten the hang though of using the SMG to godly effect though.

After reading the rest of this thread, I would lilke to add that my only gripe is the common use of the same button to sprint and enter cover from sprinting. While it does make it easier to enter cover from a dash forward, it makes it IMPOSSIBLE to sprint around corners or past cover objects.....very frustrating.

Completely agreed right here. This has to be my only complaint on the combat system. It's the same problem Gears of War 1 had. You try to sprint places and the cover system is too sticky so you end up taking cover somewhere you didn't want to take cover in. This has actually gotten me killed a couple of times.
