After you drop the torch there is almost 100% chance that you can't pick it up again (or any other party member).
For me it's the 7th peri that stops like that, it's a big problem and time consuming.

Really? That friggin' sucks. Never happened to me. All groups i've been with drop and pick it up at our leisure.
I now understand those few times someone I thought was a jacka-, I mean, jerk picked up the torch and sprinted past everything in the map to light it up, aggroing everything in the process.
I've discovered that if you try to pick up the torch before your character animation is reset to normal you'll drop it
hope that helps

Umm... that's how you should be doing the torch event anyway.
Hmmmm, had some very funky behavior with the torch today as well. I was doing the old grab the torch and run method and at least twice I find out that my character (Isabela) had dropped the torch for some reason. I did not attack or us an ability. I wonder if you drop the torch if you use up elusive or something like that?

Same thing happend to me while using Isabella last night.

It´s happened to me while using other characters too. Not embarrassing at all when you think you grabbed the torch, run into the next spawn, everyone traipsing after you, only to realize you left the torch at the starting place ![]()
On a related note, has anyone gotten stuck on this objective wave? Happened to me and a friend while playing on OC, both times zone 4. We lit the fire, ran back to grab the gold and somehow she as host simply got stuck, couldn´t move at all, nor use abilites. Teleporting to zone 5 didn´t help and she had to quit. Next game it happened to me offhost, again zone 4. But the teleporting into the next zone was working fine then.
If you get hit for a certain amount it will cause you to drop the torch.

Ahh, that splains it. Sneaky BioWere.

Does it cause less enemies to spawn or something? Coming from the perspective of someone who's pugin' it up all day ery' day, this seems like a terrible perilous idea. I nearly always have a barrier class, so it hasn't been a real issue yet, but one day...
Yeah, I've been b^tched at for doing that. But, hey, not my fault people don't know how to play follow the leader. Stay and die, or follow me and live. Or you could... snail crawl your way through the level. I'm not.
Is that 'yeah' meaning that it DOES cause less enemies to spawn or just general agreement?
I don't get the snail crawl thing either. It's like going through the level like you normally would, but occasionally dropping a torch to fight. There isn't even a dropping animation.
Hmmm i remember a certain game where it started normally but later on it started having low frame rate . We finished 2 zones and when we reached the poison torch zone we had some low frame rate issues , but it wasn't only that . When we were getting close to the torch , we were teleported away , back to the poison cloud . We tried to move again to the safe-torch area , and got teleported again . The result ?.....obviously all team suffocated from the poison .
I hate this torch idea with a passion. It is funny when the whole team (including me) stand with folded arms, whistle in the air nonchantly, and look at it wondering who will pick it up. Then someone picks it up and runs the opposite way from whence we came, to a door that he/she cannot open. Or, without consultation, decides to run all the way to the end and aggro the entire place. If I am on my assassin .... I just hide ![]()
Seriously though, I really, really, really, do not like this torch addition to the game.

Love the avatar! ![]()
If you are in a group of 4 people and you don't know who the scrub is, it's probably you. Which means you should carry the torch for us pros just like you would clean up after we break pots and open doors for us. ![]()

Basically your question is nuanced around "what do you do when you're playing above your paygrade". Have you ever seen the movie "Stripes"? Part of the story deals with what happens when a ragtag unit has to come together to graduate after their drill instructor becomes injured.
"I'm going to volunteer my leadership to this platoon. An army without leaders is like a foot without a big toe." - John Winger
What's the relevance? Without a good leader or when an unskilled player assumes the mantle of team leader then bad things happen. It doesn't matter what the difficulty is. Someone with only 20 hrs under their belt would make the same statement about Routine or Threatening. The problem isn't the strategy but the people trying to execute it.
Do/Don't list:
1. Don't try to run the torch with a Lvl1 kit. All my stats are above 55 and I have great gear but even I can go down on a Threatening match if I get surrounded (without good backup). Let someone with a higher lvl run it.
2. Let the melee kit run the torch if you have one around, preferably warrior. Melee kits tend to have more CON and aren't as useful as a ranged fighter by being restrained inside the circle.
3. Don't loot during the event. *in Obama voice* That's just dumb. If the rest of the team decides to skip the zone rather than go back to loot, then don't throw a fit on mic.
4. Walking can be more advantageous than running. The zones are small enough that you don't really need to sprint the entire way there. Walking also allows the rest of your party to keep up with you and a Barrier kit to protect the runner because they can cast while keeping up. The runner can use sprint to blow by or shake mobs while giving the rest of the team time to distract them.
5. If the runner gets hit, then the person closest to him/her should pick up the torch and keep it moving. The original runner will need to defend him/herself, so recovering the torch should be secondary.
6. Don't get ahead of the runner. The person carrying the torch has the element of surprise. If someone sprints ahead of them then they will trigger the alerted state of the enemy AI. The AI then select who they will attack. This doesn't bode well for the runner since he/she loses the advantage of shaking unalerted mobs.
7. If the person who grabs the torch is a noob (he/she is forcing players to loot treasure rooms or doesn't know where he/she is going), then go alert an enemy unit and make it follow you back to the runner. Unfortunately they didn't make a way for you force them to drop the torch other than enemy contact or team kick.
8. Take the path of least resistance. Some areas have backdoors or alternate paths to the brazier. Take those routes instead of taking on enemies head on.
