I seem to fail almost all of my Persuade and Intimidate attempts. Do i need to boost a stat to succeed in my attempts and if so which Stats should i boost.

Strength for Intimidation and Cunning for Persuasion. The Coercion skill will help a lot. The mechanics are explained here.
