And Bethesda looked out upon the land, and decreed:

There shall be magic. And arrows. And at least 12 references to arrows going into people's knees.

There shall be exactly four voices for men, and four voices for women. Do not ask why.

The default hero shall look like he was dragged 100 yards on his face during a terrible traffic accident.

Crafting magical clothing/armour shall be arbitrarily convoluted and complicated, but if you seek to master it, it will completely break the game with how over-powered it will make you.

There will be children. You will not be able to hit the children, no matter how annoying they get.

Combat animations will be laughable, but your jaw will drop at the first sight of a sunset, and you will stare in awe for 10 minutes while taking screenshots.

And yeah, I'll totally buy it, whatever it is.

A majority of women's voices will be done by Wonder Woman, and all females will look like their faces had been dragged 100 yards on their faces immediately after a terrible traffic accident.

I've been a big advocate of the concept, but the compensation ratio Valve/Bethesda promoted was ludicrous, in my eyes. Giving modders the chance to get paid for their work could, in my mind, be a real opportunity to making modding less stigmatized and more of a legitimate business activity.

Ya the format they had when they tried it with Skyrim meant it was actually possible for a modder to get no money at all from a paid mod if it didn't meet a sales threshold which just left all the money for Bethseda/Valve, that can really stifle creativity if people feel they should play it safe with mods that will sell over a more niche style mod that will get some support but not enough to actually get money for your efforts.  Then you have the people who just steal or upload the works of others and sell it at a lower price, which again hurts the chance for money for the actual modder.

Then you have mods that are dependent on other mods, People releasing mods with the works of other modders but didn't get there permission or not sharing profits. etc.

I would prefer a donation button anyway since there a modder can actually get compensation for there work, it would just be so much simpler.

I feel like this (bolded) is the biggest problem that Steam/Bethesda didn't even try to address in their model. The only possible means I could see to this are them handing out modder "licenses" to sell or post mods on Steam that could be locked or shut down with reports of stealing content, but even then it would require more oversight that Valve flat out said it would not provide (with its comment about leaving such policing up to developers).

Ironically enough, I think Origin, where the publisher, developer and DRM platform are all owned by the same parent company, might be the best platform to do this, since there would be the highest financial incentive to work and make the process as solid as it could be for developers, consumers and modders... but EA openly supporting modding is as likely as it raining fried pickles from the sky.

My biggest question is: WILL Bethesda improve CC for Fallout 4?

I am sorry but the CC in that game is an atrocity.

Agreed 100%.  I actually like Bethesda games, but the CC is always a giant letdown.  Every time*

Sorry it's Fallout 4's time to roll.

And there won't be any Elder Scrolls 6 to begin with!

I'm sure that if EA had an engine designed for modding they would consider paid mods, provided someone could pitch them on a low overheard way to police the entire process. It would essentially outsource DLC production.

Oh yeah. Don't get me wrong - I love their games. CC isn't a deal breaker for me. I just, I dunno, in this day and age of 2015, would like to have a quality CC.  :D

The one thing that really sucks about this for me is that I know TES VI won't be coming to PS360

You wouldn't want it to. Look at how DA:I turned out on those consoles. It was a nightmare.

By the time TES6 comes out (if it comes out) you could probably get an XB1 or PS4 for less, whether they were refurbished, preowned, or just sold at a sale price. I bet if you just put away a tiny bit of money each month, you could have the funding to get the console by the time the game is out.

I'd love for a new TES game to come out asap, really. But I have no problems waiting for a year or two. I am drowning in good rpgs right now, and plenty more are coming out soon. 2015 and 2016 will be amazing years for rpg fans. Maybe especially for players who like more old-school rpgs.
