I'm a bit foggy on this whole Vendetta / Elusive dynamic.   I know that you mark enemies with vendetta.  I know that you build up elusive which is the gold coin stacks and that elusive grants damage resistance, etc as it is used up.

What i am not sure of is how you efficiently generate elusive and if you have any real choice on how to use it up once you have stacks of it?

I poked around a few old thread tutorials on this but couldn't find anything to satisfy my pea brain.

After you have marked with vendetta, you need to use your dagger attack (flashing steel? forget what it's called).  That's what generates elusive.  It doesn't need to kill to provide elusive, just successfully strike a marked target.

Pelt everything with crossbow bolts, move into biggest crowd, Spinny thing, repeat.

Maybe mix in a little broadsides or ambush. Ambush gets you more coins.

You must be absolutely relentless though.

You'll have it rough if there's anything ekse that kills things quickly in your group though.

Use audacity offhand if you have it. You can wipe out entire groups with 1 well placed broadside. I use the stamina amulet so I can spam the bolt in between dagger moves.

You can use the stacks with swashbuckle.  Its a higher risk spec but lotsa damage especially vs single targets.  Ive done over 30k on a 3 hit sb to the dragon and im nothing special

Thanks folks (except scrubtbouli).

I often go wild with the cross bow but have not followed it up with dagger attacks after marking.  I now know what I must do.  Attack all marked characters with physical attacks, correct?

I use: Bolt, broadside, flank attack, and ambush

Bolt marks everyone.  Flank gives you 2 elusive.  Ambush has great damage, gives you a dash, and 1 elusive.  Broadside kills in droves...marks everyone on the board for you to grab elusive.  If you can keep your elusive up, you are unkillable.

Yes.  NB, I believe it's got to be a skill-tree physical attack.  Regular attack does not seem to grant elusive.

Just check out tool tips of the skills. They will say if it grants elusive.

yes there are attacks that use up elusive but I don't see the point. You can do ridiculous amounts of damage without wasting the stacks, and you can keep yourself alive a lot longer when you keep 3 or 4 coins on you as often as possible. Combine that with the passive to give damage bonus as you go between crossbow and dagger attacks and you burn through waves like nothing.

Elusive grants immunity to a single hit, or it grants a single 100% damage resistance if that works for you.

In order to generate Elusive, you need to mark with Vendetta and then hit with an appropriate skill, much like setting up a combo.

Bolt is the easiest way to mark for Vendetta, if your build includes Broadsides, then you have a way to mark Vendetta as an AoE.  Dead Men Tell No Tales (DMTNT) makes an excellent passive if you are near the bottom of the No Quarter tree as it spreads Vendetta as targets die, much like virulence.

In order to generate your Elusive EFFICIENTLY you need to get into a cycle Bolt (or Vendetta marking skill) and Flashing Steel (or skill that converts a Vendetta mark into Elusive).

For one of the popular builds that relies on Bolt/Broadsides for Vendetta and Flashing Steel/Ambush for Elusive you would go Bolt-Ambush-Bolt-Flashing Steel-Broadsides-Flashing Steel-Bolt-Ambush etc. You get the picture.

The nice part of using Flashing Steel with Broadsides or the DMTNT passive is that with the AoE impact of Flashing Steel, you can generate multiple counts of Elusive at once if you have managed to mark multiple targets.

This can be key to staying at full health as it can allow you to generate more Elusive than the number of times you are being hit while you stay in the thick of things.

You have no real choice on how you use Elusive other than the choice to spend it ALL on Swashbuckle if you are using that skill.

The only way to keep Elusive is to not get hit.

Post Script.... odd, typed this over an hour ago but never never hit Post, oh well. Better late...

Ohhhh sheeyut!

He clearly hasnt seen my king of routine build ;)

@Beerfish - Try Keelhaul, it does pretty good damage has a fast cool-down and reasonable stamina consumption. The description says it chains 2 enemies together but in actual fact you can chain multiple enemies (ive got 4 or 5 chained together) each giving you vendetta. Finish them off with flashing steel to get Elusive for each (think you can have up to 4 bars of elusive with the right passives). Broadside is a great power and deals a great deal of damage but it wont generate elusive.

I'm currently using Keelhaul, broadside, flashing steel and bolt but i'm thinking of dropping broadside for flank attack which gives you 2 elusive for every kill

I've seen people use keelhaul and have been intrigued by it.  I do love Broadsides, a skill that is pretty effective but also just fun to use.  Boom!

I find that while Broadside doesn't directly grant Elusive, the way it puts out so much Vendetta means I can generate more Elusive, I find it more valuable than Flank Attack.

That being said, I am in favour of using two skills that can directly grant Elusive and you're currently relying on Flashing Steel for all your Elusive.

In all fairness, it is very hard to mess up an Isabela build.

Beyond all that is mentioned here, I would like to point out that you likely will be immune to Damage Over Time effects due to her skill "Look But Don't Touch". Do not fear status effects or scary fire. :P

Yup and thats the problem i'm finding, I need a second power to generate elusive. How are you generating vendetta with broadside exactly? I find broadside often kills a group of enemies outright but when it doesnt I never acctually see vendetta being placed on enemies?

I can't speak for Chinook but I don't neccessarily use broadside for elusive. You can spam the bolt enough that you don't really need another move to apply vendetta. Broadside is just to shred through groups. I'm using the audacity offhand, which is OP on her. With auto attacks it seems to only explode on kill if you finish with the offhand dagger but it applies to every skill I use on Isabella. You hit everyone from 2-5k or so depending on if you crit, and each one that dies explodes and adds 75% explosion damage on top of that, for each one killed. Chain reaction wipes out the entire group.

I have to make do with Walking Death.

Had audacity at one point too. Guess I trashed it.
