Well for all intents and purposes, the Sun is the center of our little universe.

Unless someone can develop FTL travel, we are looking at our solar system being the only thing we can reliably colonize.

Our lives revolve around it - literally and figuratively. The sun is the source of all life on the planet. It is ultimately what feeds us and governs our actions from day to day. We are all composed of its material and it keeps us in a cradle of protection - orbiting close enough to keep us warm, yet far away to avoid burning us with its awesome power. All life is beholden to it, but it is beholden to no one. And ultimately, it will crush us all in a fiery destruction of rebirth.



If that doesn't qualify as a god, then I don't know what does.
