This probably belongs outside of Feedback and Suggestions.

That said, marching through the mountains and climbing that final ridge to look upon Skyhold. Quite the epic moment.

Anora's speech before the Battle of Denerim.

That was the only moment that moved me to tears.

The Battle of Ostagar without a doubt. King Cailan shouting "For Ferelden!" and that music still gives me goosebumps. The march to Denerim comes as a close second and maybe the Joining as third.

Because of how bad it was in comparison to Alistair's speech?

Most memorable... hmm.

When I killed Flemeth the first time in DA:O? Does that count? XD Varric's parody scene when confronting Bartrand was also solid gold.

More seriously, though. Anders blowing up the Chantry was also a big one. Just... damn. Frustrating, but definitely had me invested. Ostagar was a kick in the gut, too, yep. Duncan. D:

Battle of Ostagar. That scene, what leads up to it (Joining, Flemeth etc.) and what follows it, are not only the perfect encapsulation of the game, but of the BW experience as a whole.

Hawke, assuming a one-on-one fight at the end of Chapter 2, coming in at a close second. Coming in third is anything Varric says, ever.

You mean, running around the pillars from the Arishok? :D That was sooo epic

Varric: Yes, that's pretty much how I tell it. "Hawke rolled into the fray like a gigantic pudding, covered in gravy." It's more dramatic that way.

Well I'd agree with a with a lot of the obvious moments that have already been mentioned, the battle of Ostagar, Anders destroying the Chantry and the journey to Skyhold are all great moments.

However the one that always stands out the most for me is when you first arrive at Ostagar. After you finish talking to Cailan and Duncan and they walk off you're left looking out over the bridge whilst some epic music briefly swells up before fading out again, that moment always gets me all aquiver.

Right before the battle of Ostagar, the female cleric/chantry sister with the censer walking through the lines of warriors. It has this "you who are about to die" feeling...gets me every time.

Overall, ostagar the first time.

Personally, choosing to sacrifice my female dalish elf only to have alistair stop me and sacrifice himself instead. Even I got misty at that. No game has ever topped it.

I miss my wardens, but that made her the most memorable by far.

Inquisition didn't have moments like that, sadly.

Battle of Ostagar

DAI has a few, but not nearly at the same level as Battle of Ostagar: Battle of Haven, Discovery of Skyhold and Battle of Adamant Fortress.

The end of the battle of Ostagar, when the signal fire lights and Loghain turns away.

Nothing in DA2 or Inquisition really rises to that level, though the Elder One approaching through the fire in the battle at Haven had the potential to be great (they gave away his identity too early, and though it was something that needed to happen for the sequence to work, it diminished the actual "reveal" too much).

When Anders blew up the Chantry. I mean sure, a couple of issues in terms of direction in act 3 of DA2, but that moment...I just didn't expect that to go down the way it did (also liked that you had to pick either Sebastian or Anders or neither). I love moments of shock.

Yeah, the whole game suffered from this, there were no grand, memorable moments like before. The Dawn will Come scene and the Skyhold reveal were probably the only worth mentioning.

As for Corypheus, the reveal should've been done when the dragon destroys the trebuchet and drops Corypheus to confront the Inquisitor. When Dorian/Cole points him out on the mountain, there should've been only Calpernia/Samson standing over the army.

Edit: Now that I think of it, what about the after-credits scene with Flemeth and Solas? It's not epic or whatsoever, but certainly a moment of shock and plot twist.

That wouldn't have worked. You can't just have the big bad magically show up and walk over to you without having been established at all.

They had to show that he was present before then. But I wish they would have tried to conceal his identity in some way so that the first time you could really see who it was would be that final sequence (not that you couldn't have guessed from the tutorial, since his silhouette is pretty hard to mistake—I wasn't satisfied with that part either).

Edit: Now that I think of it, what about the after-credits scene

Haven't seen it yet. Can't judge.

Certainly, there are memorable moments in all the games, but iconic? The only one that fits that bill to me is Ostagar.

Ostagar hands down the entire thing. so many iconic moments all in one place. Meeting the king, the joining, fighting your first ogre, the actually battle, loghain betrayal, duncan and the king dying. It literally is the dragon age series most iconic place and moment and it has yet to be topped.

DA2: Anders blowing up the chantry was probably the most iconic of that game especially with Sebastian there for extra tension, but due to it being a end game moment its not as iconic as Ostagar.

DAI: Dawn will come leading to Skyhold is the most iconic for this game slightly more then haven, but less then anders blowing up the chantry which is nowhere near ostagar.

The Battle of Ostagar cutscene -  the soldiers nervously waiting while the chantry sister blesses them and then one of them backing away slightly when he sees the hoard and the guy behind him steadying him with a hand on this shoulder.... gets me in the feels everytime.

The climb to Skyhold cutscene is a close second.

If I have to pick just one, the first time I had a Warden do the ultimate sacrifice. My dwarf noble is still my favourite Dragon Age character I've ever made, because she had an amazing character arc and that was the perfect (albeit heartbreaking) ending.

The thing about Ostagar (at least for me) was that it was the first time I had ever seen a moment like that in a video game. Yeah, I'd played NWN2, and that had cutscenes and all, but it didn't have anything close to that kind of intensity. I'm more jaded now, so it takes a lot more to raise goose bumps, and that's kind of a shame.

Sometimes, I wonder if people pine for the novelty of Origins as much as anything the story had to offer. Yeah, the story was great, I won't dispute that. But it was also new, and technology allowed things that would never have been possible with older engines. It's kinda like going to a diner after the prom. Yeah, a grilled corn muffin with butter will always be tasty, but at least one of the reasons it's so good is because you're 16 and you're out partying at 1am.

I think this one really depends a lot on how define iconic. Most of the comments so far in this thread are those truly epic moments, such as Ostagar and Anders blowing up the chantry, certainly rank there for me. Out of those kinds of scenes perhaps to me the most epic scenes is the drawing duel between Hawke and the Arishok as well as the final battle with Meredith, especially the first time when the statues started getting involved.

To me, those truly powerful and iconic scenes in DA games have been those truly emotional powerful scenes that managed to move me, with DA2, by the virtue of being my favorite in the series having most of those. Perhaps at the top of the list for me personally is Leandra's death, her last interaction with Hawke and the discussions with Isabela (LI), Gamlen and Aveline after that. There was just something truly haunting and tragic in those moments. Coming close at that list for some reason, and I am slightly surprised that this sticks out for me so much, is the return from the Deep Roads in DA2, as they stumble through and realize the sibling has the Blight and desperately try to figure out what to do.

The more I think of it, for me most of the the truly iconic moments are really small character moments that are somewhat silent yet somehow manage to speak so much of the characters. I almost started listing them here, but there would be far too many.
