This is a huge problem for ALL console players. I've read a lot of posts on EA's Answers HQ about everyone with every console having huge issues being able to read any game text. For both standard def and HD tvs. I myself have the ps3 version of the game and yes sadly a standard def tv as I can't afford to get a nice hd tv and you unfortunately cannot hook your console to a laptop as the video is output only.

So I suggest making an update (for all consoles of course probably pc too so they can have the option if they need it), to first off make a general increase in text size overall since there is so many different sizes of text in the game. And then add sliders in the options menu to be able to increase (or decrease) text size further so everyone can adjust the text size to perfectly readable levels for themselves. Also for subtitles and the dialog wheel while the black behind the text is nice there should be a slider to make it less transparent for easier reading when on certain backgrounds and also make sure the black behind the text is as long as the line of text! I have had this be an issue with options in the dialog wheel (don't know if it's a problem with subtitles as I cannot read those at all). Where it's hard enough trying to make out what it says because the text is WAY too small but also the black behind the text isn't always long enough.

I find the game to be really fun, but it is extremely difficult to play when you can't really read almost all of the text in the game. I find that I have to rely on the wiki and IGN's walkthrough to be able to really play. So that I can actually read what I'm supposed to do for quests, or to see what the heck I'm picking as upgrades for characters, and even to have a clue as to what I'm doing at the war table since I can't read a damn thing. And a big one being when making or upgrading weapons or armor, can't really read the names of the weapons as it is, can't really read what ingredients I'm trying to use, so I have to use a guide that tells me what the item is and what effects it will have, so I have a chance at making something good, cause the text for all of that is even smaller than other text in the game.

Also with those star puzzles, the uh Astrarium puzzles the image of the solution is WAY too small as well, I cannot even see all the lines in it so I had to do a google search and found a site that gives the solutions for all of them with numbers telling you exactly how to complete them.

Map icons should also be made bigger or have options to select a few different sizes for the icons, and of course the icons and text for both the maps themselves and for the legend are too small. Making it hard to figure out what the different locations are.

It would definitely be an improvement. The text is just about readable for me (although I would still want to adjust it) and I can see how it would be a bigger issue for other people. The text size was fine in DA:O and DA2 and I think this is one of the things that should have stayed the same in all three games.

I'm not saying this isn't an issue for people, but I'm surprised. I play on Xbox One and I've used a TV as well as a PC screen and never had any issues reading any text.

same here, but I guess anything you play on a SD-def TV will look bad regardless.

Yes the standard def tvs do, do funny things to the text of these hd games, however it doesn't make it beyond difficult to read. I have never had a problem with any of my other games. Plus I have read on these forums as well as EA's answers hq that there is a ton of people having these same issues across all 4 platforms of consoles and many of them saying they are in fact playing on hd tvs and some pretty large ones in some cases as well. So it's sad that the text was made so small, and that no fix to allow us to adjust all of it has been made available so far.

I did manage to find the option they added to increase the size of the subtitles, wasn't all that easy since it is so hard to read the text. I actually found a youtube video someone made where they were showing all the options, so it went through mine along with the video and was like hey wait he doesn't have this one, what's it say.... lol Though I think it could still stand to be a bit bigger, I have it on large, though it is MUCH better than before.

I second this - only recently got the game and was so excited right up until I got a horrible headache from the endless straining to read. The update improved the subtitles, but I still find quest descriptions, letters, the map, and most game-breakingly everything on the war table unreadable. And when I say 'unreadable' I don't mean 'ooh it's a bit small', I mean 'sitting one foot away from the screen and staring at each word individually while reading aloud I can still not understand what it says'. It's a real shame.

I thought there would be some issues with playing on a 360 and a SD tv, but the worst I'd ever had before was that I occasionally struggled to read the occasional 'to crouch press __' message in Skyrim, which was easy enough to look up. Whereas this game is so text-based that I just can't enjoy it as it is. I hope they respond to the people having troubles with text size and patch this soon!

Yep it is beyond comprehension how they could have possibly thought the size of the font was ok (not to mention the numerous different sizes of way too small text!). And don't even get me started on the size of the font when you're crafting! So yeah an update gave us a couple of options to change subtitle size which I laugh at the fact that I have it set to large and quite frankly that should be normal! I can't even enjoy reading any of the games lore cause I can't read the damn stuff so I never open my codex since the notes/books codex's that are opened when you find them are unreadable. Really disappointing since I love reading the lore in Dragon Age Origins!

I have less problems now with the subs (the darker layer help) but all the test (whell, codex, descriptions) are a nightmare and make My eyes hurt after Little time.

The size is not the only problem. I think part of the problem is that they are all in caps. I cant read half of the info, because the squinting gives me a head ache and strains my eyes. I have a large TV, and no difficulty in reading stuff in any other game. Please fix. I would love to read what your writers have written Bioware!

gathering this issue of fonts sizes in the interface being all over place is never getting fixed.. some of those fonts sizes, like the progession bar for level that pops up is unreadable, even if it was on  24" monitor that I sit less then 2 feet from I would think that was unreadable, forget about, 32"+ HDTV you sit 8+feet from, the codex and quest logs are just readable....

Atlest DA:O and DA::II fonts where readable, and consistent across the whole game.
