Now I know that the next game would be focused on "Exploration and wildlife and stuff" but please add big cities in it loaded with content where we can explore or just hang out? a place where the game literally tells you to slow down and enjoy the view. This is because
I just went into the theaters earlier since my cousins invited me to watch "Disney's tomorrowland" yeah the film was made for kids, although critics said that it is a box office miss I still enjoyed it to be honest. Film had a message in it. Anyway I spent 80% wondering to myself while watching that film... IS THAT THESSIA? HAHAHA This reminds me about Mass Effect alot xD
Mass Effect 4 should have a big city where we can explore that big city with loads of stuff to do. Now I won't mention the ARK here because that's a different story. In Mass Effect 3 and 2 we saw these cities but we can not actually explore them... they were all backgrounds I actually want to go "over there" and talk with aliens or people. If Bioware pulls this off I would take everything back about criticizing them. Thanks.

And on the other side of that request would be to have massive abandoned ruins of cities for the sci-fi archeology enthusiasts.

Some variety would be nice as well. A big futuristic city like the Citadel to the world of the underground like Oemga.

I second you. I mean I'd love a huge city, a vibrant metropolis on a huge scale with a Bladerunner/Coruscant like urban sprawl/cool beautiful futuristic cityscapes with lotsa hustle n bustle, atmosphere, dodgy dealings, seedyness, dark vibes, dense traffic, lotsa npcs & verticality etc. Or even they could add cities with different environments, vibes & cultures, not all following that same sci-fi cliche. Some more advanced or beautiful, dynamic weathers, full of vistas and more colourful than others, variation etc. (i know we already had Ilium, Omega, Beckenstein, the Citidel(especially ME2's version) etc...take that blueprint n expand upon it)

I actually found this tumblr with a huge & diverse amount of sci-fi cities & futuristic stylishness(so much so i can't pic a fav) that fit with what you want/those examples. Art which gives a great visualistion of that. Maybe if Bioware are reading(you never know~) there's alotta inspiration, creative & cool ideas there to be had, amazing views too... http://mirkokosmos.t...agged/cityscape , and not to mention sci fi furturistic architecture that could perhaps feature/& that i'd like to see/explore on said futuristic cities http://mirkokosmos.t... #architecture

And agreed if Bioware truly our serious about this 100 planet thing then they defo should do stuff like that. It'd be a great juxtaposition, contrast, change of pace & good for world building, flesh out this new universe. But having said all that I think the crucial thing though which this game could fall victim too(if the leak/scope & scale of Bioware's plans for ME:N are to be believed) is that somehow ME:N needs to avoid being as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle. Not bite off more than they/it can chew and try shove as much in there in as possible spreading the quality thinnly as a result.

I know this sounds ambitious but it would be epic if Bioware develops these cities whether in ruins or not! you know, dynamic weather systems and special unique weather effects which are different with one another depending on the planet's atmosphere components it could be environmental hazards or make your character sick, different gravities for each planet and cities, add the ability to own apartments for your N7 soldier as well as drive, fly or swim, eat, sleep, sit on a park bench, feed alien ducks or pigeons, fly over a lake with your N7 ARMOR!  or basically interact with the environment which would again be unique from place to place wherein it would make the game "FLESH OUT" something fresh and not generic over-hyped big budget graphics games that we see nowadays! it would make it feel "crafted" out of passion instead of dead-lines and profit.

Add economy to these cities! each item or resources you gather in the wild or different unknown planets would sell like hotcakes on these cities depending on its rarity! add fluctuations into the market!

Add spaceship docking ports into these cities where you can actually visit and customize your ship! be it cruiser, frigate or dreadnought!

Add random events into these cities! Crimes, chaos, or basically anything which requires you to decide the outcome! which would then make it feel alive.

I don't know if these would be considered but if it does... this will be one hell of a space game! "these little things" these minute details like specs of dust floating in these cities to alien plants, to ants would make the game surreal and outstanding. We need something fresh aside from "SAVE THE UNIVERSE" and stuff we need something that we can appreciate and enjoy as a MASS EFFECT science fiction game!

the only game that I can think off with such big ambition today is Star Citizen.

I agree with you! ME:N will probably need a central hub, so they could make it into a massive city. Something like the citadel in the first Mass Effect game, but it could be on a planet.

Exactly! To avoid repitition or boredom they can program random events and quests in-game, trade with aliens in the market, throw a big arse party. Make the game complete when it launches instead of removing content and making them as DLC

Something like starlord found in the movie, maybe with more ruins

If they're going to do a ME1 2.0 in terms of exploration, then both the explorable planets need to be significantly developed, but also the hub(s). We need our ME1 Citadel++++. We need a shining beacon of civilization (with its shadows) in whatever story/location context (that we're missing so far). We need tech that surpasses some/most of the trilogy's. We need crowds of people to contrast with the desolation that will be in much of the rest of the game.

Outside of the main genre of the game (party-RPG for DA, shooter-RPG for ME), Bioware will focus on narrative above most else, so don't expect the most immersive city space ever. But it should absolutely be the most immersive and interesting city environment in a Bioware game to date. I won't consider anything less to be appropriate for a 2016(ish) Mass Effect game.

That's a shame... Looks like I have my bets with Starcitizen then in-terms of immersion because the narrative aspect of Mass Effect killed it for me in the end-game.

I agree... mostly ;)

A fancy-pants hub world/space station would be stellar. Making it diverse and interractive would be excellent as well but... Skyhold, Omega, the Citadel, and Illium have all been well... fairly lackluster (Citadel & Skyhold being the best) and thus when I start reading about personal apartments, open cities, large areas and such I fear Bioware is just not capable of such feats without making significent sacrifices in other areas such as story, characters, sidequests, etc...

Thus I would prefer one or maybe two hubs outside of our own ship, and to keep the majority of personal customization (Fish, Space Hamster, Model Ships etc...) on board. Keep the planetside hubs for recruitment, sidequests, shopping, a few story missions, strippers, companion quests etc... also consistently giving us reasons to revisit these hubs would help to ensure they remain relevant and the effort put into building them is not wasted, because honestly was there any real reason to revesit hubs like Omega and Illium other than Samara and Mirandas side quests?

I don't mean to make fuss, just stating my opinion. Its a good request and has sparked some interesting ideas. :D

The problem is, it needs to be really really well done.

For example even at its top SOE couldn't bring Coruscant to SWG. Because either people would be disappointed, Coruscant would lack stuff to do or it would be a massive lag fest. So SOE didn't even want to think about it for a second and they were right.

Ever played SWTOR? Nar Shadaa is actually well done but it is claustrophobic, full of corridors. Coruscant was like Citadel on ME, looked nice but so many transit hubs and "out skirts of town" had no real architectual connection to main area.(There was war okay but even ruins didn't look similar to starport places)

Talking about ME. Omega was well done but it was small. Citadel looked nice but felt like "corridors" in old FPS games.

So in short it is really a hard thing to do. I'm not sure anyone managed to do it yet.

A place full of life, also has "super tech post modernistic BS" stuff which actually is too "sterile" in most cases, filled with points of interests but has no stupid fetch quests, have no "corridor style" FPS map but also doesn't kill FPS and/or cause lag.

But if i was mister Hudson i'd aim for this instead of creating bazillion of planets. Because filling so many planets with something is yet another boring job. Fetch quests? People hate it. Empty areas? People hate it too. Nicely done side quests? Takes too much time to create and instead they could work on main quests.

Most people criticized first game for copy paste places, copy paste Thresher Maws, Mako handling, empty planets that have copy paste "dungeons" on it etc. And all these lead to "filling empty planets with something that can make sense".

Probably too late for ME:N but still my two cents.

PS: Even thinking and typing these made me tired, glad i don't work for world designer on Bioware :P

I can see them making such cities. The explorable levels can be similar to this part of Prey 2 cinematic trailer, with vistas and awesome views at certain locations. Assassin's Creed Unity introduced large crowds, so it won't be that laggy.

ME2 took us to many interesting locations, but the hubs were too small. If all the Hub worlds in ME:N could be similar to ME1's Citadel, but with the variety of 2 I'd be very happy. I want to be able to take a skycar at will and just drive around like in the LotSB DLC. I'd like it if the people I was searching for weren't conveniently condensed into one small area of an otherwise gigantic city/ planet. Multiple tiers and multiple buildings to drive to and explore would be great. Add fast travel for people who don't want to drive a skycar.

I seriously hope uncharted planets aren't 90% of the locations we're going to.

the only reason for it to lag is if 1: Horrible optimization

2: bad console port to PC

                                                  3. Someone running it on a potato

Or we have different idea about being big.

In a medieval game like Skyrim it can be done pretty easily. Your top speed is crawling with respect to some sci-fi vehicle. In Fallout again it can work, you're out there walking anyway.

To feel big there should be no "Loading" sequences like in ME 1 or no "fast travel/get a taxi to reach there" stuff like in ME 2 for example.

And not to mention what we're asking here is similar to Coruscant, aka places, vehicles, points of interests, interesting places, this and that over everywhere. Not some barren style ME 1 Mako planets. So this and possible vehicle use will bring some lag friend.

Or they'll make it corridors and that won't be really big :)
