It's a new idea for a character. So how is this possible? Good question.

 

I was thinking earlier about how all the Origin's events take place, just without Duncan to save them with recruitment. And I thought about the city elf. What if they escaped? They might have tried to defeat Vaughan but failed due to Duncan not giving her a sword through Sorris, but what would happen after that? What if they managed to escape after somehow still getting Shianni out of there without her being killed? Vaughan always kills the elves he has his way with according to what you're told as a male city elf, but Shianni is alive. So the Not-Warden must have succeeded at getting her out of there somehow. From there, it's not hard to imagine that they somehow slipped the garrison's net and got out of Denerim successfully.

 

My guess is that she went to find the Dalish when she got out. Maybe the garrison chased her all over Denerim and Ferelden, or maybe she got away quietly. Which is where my idea picks up. She found a Dalish clan by luck, which happened to be the Lavellan clan. She stayed with them for the next decade, slowly becoming more and more respected among the clan to the point where she was the one trusted enough to go the Haven Conclave both thanks to her loyalty and how skilled she was. She changed her last name to the clan name as a way of both hiding her identity in case the Denerim guards never gave up their search and as a way of fully embracing her new life as a Dalish. I guess she'd be about 28 or 30 by DAI's time period.

 

As far as I know, DAI doesn't necessarily contradict this backstory. Does anyone like it? Because I am currently loving this idea and can't wait to try it.

Shianni is in the alienage during the latter part of DAO, so she is established as not going anywhere.

And I believe Sorin makes a mention of how his friend(the City Elf PC) was killed by Vaughan.

That's my point, Shianni is taken yet is still alive later in DAO. So she must have been rescued. Soris says a friend, not a cousin. And even then, how would he know she escaped? Even if Sianni knows, she might have been sworn to secrecy. Or he himself might be lying to protect her.

I think the implication is the Vaughan and his friends just dumped the elven women back in the alienage after they were done with them. They'd had their fun and then they discarded them, no longer caring about them.

The elder disagrees. He tells you that he always dumps their bodies somewhere and just gives a convenient excuse.

So you too based her appearance on how she looked in Leliana's Song? It's too bad that, it's a lot easier to make her look like her mother in DAO thanks to sharing the same engine. Still, she looks good.

Nope. That was a huge surprise to me. I made this character way be for Leliana's song. I played it years later  and ,surprise , I found out her mom is dark skinned as well. Bw must be reading my file or they just did it in case the player made dark skinned characters.

Oh, well now that is funny! One thing I do like about the parents being on opposite sides of the skin tone spectrum is you have a lot of leeway about what skin tone you give them, you can pick anywhere from really dark skinned like the mother to completely pale and ghost-white like the father.

 

I bet you loved finding out about Adaia being dark skinned, huh? You make a character who has a skin tone far darker than your character's father, and probably get annoyed about it. Then a bit further down the road, you find out your character's mother was in fact dark skinned herself. I'd bet it was a nice surprise.

I don't remember the elder saying that Vaughn always kills his victims, I thought I remembered him saying he likes to do so. 

 

I think Vaughn's intention with the wedding party was to let the group live after the night was over.

He says he'll let Shianni live if you let him live himself, as a trade. I don't doubt she would have been killed if you weren't there to force him into that choice.

It occurs to me that I should have clicked "like" on that post where you showed a screen cap, so I just did. I tend to be so conservative with my "likes" that I often forget to even click it when I do in fact like a post. I really got to start being more free about clicking it.
