How does the berserk modifier work?
Do you trigger it or is it always in effect?
And is the 50/50 change working?

Berserk is always in effect so long as you are using a berserk weapon. as for the balance change, supposedly its already in effect even though the weapon tooltip says otherwise. haven't tried it myself though that tool tip scares the heck out of me.
Always in effect. As of about a week ago, the berserk shield wintersbreath still adds +100% damage to player as well. Very very painful when trying to solo. Not so bad if you have barrier on you, but don't solo perilous with berserk unless you're mad.

I thank you for the compliment.
. . .but I never said I succeeded in such a mission. ![]()

I see berserk weapons as giving a de facto added difficulty. They are comparable offensively to the best end game weapons so you don't gimp your damage but they seriously ramp up the damage you take thus negating a good chunk of promotions. When I tried them out last week, threatening runs felt like a perilous run. Its something to consider for high stat people who feel perilous has gotten too easy.
Trying out the Serpents Rage 1h Axe.... gotta do the axe challenge... What I'm noticing although, isn't really that big of a damage taken increase, but my output damage isn't really that much bigger either.
Am I correct to assume the 50% damage increase would affect only the actual damage of the weapon itself? Gonna do some testing on FC routine (vs demons if i can) between my Dragon sword vs Serpent's axe.... If I did the momentary math correctly, the axe SHOULD be of higher DPS then the Sword... correct?

I'm not sure how the 50% gets worked in and to be honest the damage formula for mp is pretty convoluted and idiosyncratic. Is the berserk bonus equivalent to attack bonus? Is it simply added on or a separate multiplier?
All I know is that when I did my own tests with siege's end against dragon maul, great sword, and sulevin, it came out marginally on top of the dragon maul in both auto-attacks and ability damage. It was substantially stronger than the dragon great sword and sulevin. In fact, it was almost double the damage of sulevin blade in both auto-attacks and ability damage.
Well... the tool tip does specify 'damage'... which leads me to believe that it enhances the base damage of the weapon which is therein affected by attack speed to create our DPS #...
Wonder if Luke or the team would kindly comment?

+50 to Damage Bonus
-50 to Damage Resist
So it's not necessarily +50% overall DPS depending on what other equipment or what ability you are using.

Sooooo it could be considered a Mighty offense bonus?
And as for the -50... is that considered a -50% or a straight -50 hard number.... essentially like reducing armor by 50 and each elemental resistance by 50?

IF you had no other items or abilities modifying your Damage Resistance bonus stat then yes, you would be taking 50% more total damage. If you say had +20% Damage Resist this would put you at -30% for example.

Fun fact question if you wouldn't mind Base Luke...
If you had say...130% Melee, Ranged and Magic Resistance (which reduces to 80% @ cap)...
Could you use the Berserk weapons with 'zero' penalty? ![]()

Actually I'm curious on this myself.
The defense stat is a different thing altogether so they wouldn't directly affect one another - it'll help quite a bit but won't negate it. Also that stat is hard capped at 80 so you can't be at 130 even if you had that much.Fun fact question if you wouldn't mind Base Luke...

Well that line of theory crafting just got axe'd.
