Why is the Jaws of Hakkon DLC more expensive on PS4 than on X1? On PSN AUS it's $24.95 while on XBL it's $19.95. Still too expensive for non expansion DLC, but there is a big difference between the two!

Wait what? Is that real? 5 dollar difference for the exact same content? If it's true then it's really bullshit.
They better fix that or I ain't buying Jaws of Hakkon even for PC any time soon. Fair prices for all platforms please.

The answer seems obvious: Sony is charging a mark-up.

Yup totally true
I can double confirm this as true.
IT was worse for the ME Dlc..(the one with Aria) was $20 in xbox, and $29.95 on ps3. So it's not exactly a new thing, sony does it a lot.
The answer seems obvious: Sony is charging a mark-up.
Probably.

Hey everyone,
We are looking into this. I'll update you when I know more.
Jaws of Hakkon is still not showing up for me in the PSN store for PS3. Just checked again this morning (search for Dragon Age: Inquisition, only 4 Add-Ons show up, Destruction, Dragonslayer, The Black Emporium and Deluxe Edition Upgrade).
Now 2 days after the proposed release. What am I missing? Please advise.

Doubt it, Sony doesn't set the pricing on dlc. Meanwhile microsoft bribed bioware to delay it for 2 months on ps4... sounds like another deal with microsoft.

It's upto the dev, not sony. And this is the same dev that just made us wait 2 months because they were paid to.

I had this same problem, so I searched for it on the PS store through my computer and got it there.

Oh come on Bioware Spoils of the Avvar is $5 for the Xbox One, and $7.55 for the PS4. I'm not paying.

... wow.
Tweet Mike once when he's up and awake asking politely on confirmation on this. That's what I did for JoH and I got a reply and then the price was changed in a few days probably less.
I think it seems to me that Sony isn't really getting the memo for the price thing...

$5 Australian is a relatively good price, isn't it? Considering it's $5 US?
Here in the UK we're paying £3.99 = 7.98 Australian dollars. With an extra 25p slapped on the PC price for good measure.

I wanted to say "I hear you" as the EU pays more as well because the euro is more than the US dollar, but when I checked for the accurate amount apparently the euro has dropped in worth.
Still, in the EU we're paying about 50 cents more for the spoils of the avvar DLC than the Americans, so boooo! I want muh 50 cents! ![]()

Question, didn't Microsoft secure some kind of deal with EA to have DLC released first to X1 and then PC and PS4 a few months after?

That was only supposed to apply to the first story DLC. From now on DLC releases should be the same time across all platforms - give or take a few hours I suppose.

It seems that is you buy Jaws of Hakkon you'd get it for free on PS4 if you are going to upgrade, problem is the you'd have to start over the game from the beginning.

If digital games work the same way as other digital media like series or films, the retailer sets the final price, not the publisher or the dev as that would go against competition law. So manufacturers usually work on the basis of wholesale prices and recommended retail prices/list prices, which the retailer (in this case Sony) can choose to apply or not.
I assume that Sony sets its pricing for the full game at the same level as its competitors, as availability/pricing for games is a determining factor when deciding which console to buy, but once customers are "locked in" by their choice because they bought the full game on PS4 and won't go and buy it again for another platform to play the DLC, they can charge more for additional content. That, or EA negotiated higher wholesale prices for Sony than for Microsoft (unlikely).
In short, I think it's on Sony, not EA or BioWare. If Sony did this as a rule for all DLC for all games, it would be a bad business decision on Sony's part, as given the amount of DLC available for most games, customers would factor that in when choosing which console to buy. But for single pieces of DLC here and there, where their analysis showed that customer demand is strong enough to keep pricing elasticity low (i.e. enough customers will buy it regardless of the higher price), they can use that strategy to maximize their profits.
The above is an assumption based on what I know of digital sales of films/series, and is just how I interpreted it from a business perspective. It could just as easily have been a mistake on Sony's part with someone punching in a wrong price. Or something else entirely.

No matter what it's still a lot for just some armors and a mount. Why has the price of DLCs gone up so much this generation?
