@dragonracer that's fair enough, I just feel like evasive moves like combat roll and fade cloak let me be a lot more aggressive and go full in-your-face mode on almost anything without worrying about going down. It's a failsafe, yes, but damn good at that. I even play necro as a close-combat mage with cloak, step and bomb. In the end it all depends on playstyle and what anyone's used to, like you said.
As I've stated before I mostly play pugs and that means I don't trust anyone
so making the most out of my kit's survivability without the need to depend on teammates is really what I go for.

I blame the Krogan for my lack of interest in rolling. Besides, why dodge when you have a headbutt?

YES. Also, if you have two kataris in the group, you can't plant the flag until they headbutt each other 3 times.

Oh, yes, definitely don't mistake me for implying it's useless or not good at all. I have seen people absolutely wreck like that. One of my good gaming buddies was a Drell master and sometimes I would just stand back amazed at him weaving in and out of enemies and owning like that.
It just, unfortunately, is not a playstyle I seem apt to pick up on well. I am much more slow and lumbering and will eventually win the race, dragging anyone in the Fade kicking and screaming with me. I'll get there, just not quite as fast or flashy. ![]()

ME3MP. Specifically, Turians.
I blame my Turians for that. It's all their fault. To this day, I have a hard time remembering to dodge and evade in games that give me that option.
So what'd you do when Turians got a Jetpack? (TGI)
if I have, chances are I've done so bad enough that an evasive maneuver wouldn't have done me a lot of good anyway
If you only knew... hahah. Now for ME3, that's probably true. DAMP however, you can quickly turn the tide with CR into CB->MB if you bought time with CR. Warhorn in the case of Reaver.
CR will actually even cause enemy melee to miss even if you cannot roll away from your position, because turning into a little ball affects your hitbox. They were targetting your face, and swing over your head as you curl up into a little ball, metroid style. This is not true all the time, as their overhead attacks can still hit you. However, their overhead attacks require often them to be attacking from a distance, so you would normally have enough space to CR away from them in that case.
This is all tricks of the trade stuff that you wouldn't figure out until you used it, but I hope you read and learn from it.
already be planning where you need to move to in order to not get hit,
You can proactively do this with combat roll, behind an enemy or into cover, especially after CB MB and into PS

I don't think I ever had a match with Krogan that didn't start with a headbutt contest.
This Katari headbutt needs to be a thing. Or just add it to another Qunari character.

I often found myself very frustrated when I ended up jetpacking off somewhere when all I wanted to do was turn a different direction and run. Pretty much thanks to that ever-wonderful one-button-does-half-the-things we were stuck with. X, in the case of my particular console. ![]()

Hmmm, these are certainly things to consider. I'm never opposed to trying things I've not tried before. In this particular case, it would even make sense to give it a whirl sense I've not yet found myself married to a particular ability for the fourth spot as far as preferences go with Katari. He's even freshly promoted, so I'll give CR a shot for a few promotions and see if I can't get a feel for it in DAIMP.

Just a reminder, you'll want to upgrade Combat Roll. It'll get you out of knockdown/stun/fear when upgraded, but not on initial point. Off-host, you'll want to combat roll twice in sequence to guarantee you've CR'ed away from danger (ideally with a jump in between). You don't want snap-back. I know it sounds/looks silly, but Rolling Bunny hop roll works.
