While the cheating you have just mentioned was truly rampant in the past, there have been overt and covert cheating which, most likely, still occur.
Hehe, That is evident by the weekly "so there was this lobby where all the mages had full guard and infinite mana" threads. I am glad I play on a console where such a think is not prevalent.

Given that the leaderboard makes up about 1% of the player base it makes sense that it would be about %1 of the forumgoers. This makes the BSN a microcosm of the DAIMP community. Which I can imagine is more valuable feedback for Bioware than a forum with only the super elite.
I'd love to have the time to play this game from the moment I get home to the moment I go to bed. But I can't. "Casual" has some connotations attached to it that may be interpreted as an insult. Given that success on the leaderboard is linked to time spent and efficient xp farming, I don't think that people should really fall into the trap of fighting the casual/hardcore battle or getting bent out of shape.
I don't think the term "casual" should be looked at as bad. It just means the person can't devote as much time as they would like to because of life responsibilities. I know many good "casual" players that I enjoy playing with.
While I do go for xp, I don't go for the most efficient ways. I play to have fun with the people I group with and enjoy the team aspect of the game. If a group member needs dragon weapons, we go for it. If they need doors, we do it. For example, when I was farming routine/threatening dragons for completions, I would set the room up to public and depending on the group, I smashed every vase, opened every room, and didn't let the "casual" or "newbie" players hit the gong as they need their mats. There is no casual/hardcore battle with me. I could care less about those things.

It is usually used as an insult or dig on message boards.
Not to mention your second post in the thread literally says, "Wow, just one so far. YIKES!!!" as if it's a bad thing that most forum folks aren't on the leaderboards, meaning we must be "filthy casuals".
Hence, my passive-aggressive response earlier. If I have wildly misread your intentions and posts, then I apologize. It is the Internet, after all, and it is BSN, after all, so, sadly, I'm rather conditioned to expect the worst from posters when something is on the edge of being considered insulting or not.

No to have an accurate opinion you need both casual players and people on the leaderboard 
I'm stuck around the 40's on the PS3 Leaderboard. Don't think I'll be able to climb much higher than that. Though at one time, I never thought I'd ever catch up and get on the boards.

#1 on ps3 has 1400 prestige 
then again, I wouldn't even be on the ps4 board with my puny 703
I consistently remain 100 points off the boards. Though, due to a glitch I once showed up as 10 on global. Took a screenshot. Beerfish and HeroicMass were, of course, above me. Medallian still claimed the 1 spot. Friends list was showing as global for whatever reason. That's the closest I'm ever likely to get.

Lol Kmeeg. I guess it shows i've been slacking. I haven't really been grinding lately as I've become bored. I've also been spending some time in beta.
