When the host leaves, is there a process or is it essentially random who gets slotted into host?

Yes, whoever has the crappiest connection gets to host.

It seem to be as RNG as the store, I haven't been able to see any logical sequence for it, like the second person to enter the lobby get's it first etc.

I think it's not random, because I never become the new host. And I remember that a friend of mine always became the new host when there was a change (I am voluntarily exaggerating a little here, but you see my point). Something related to the connection quality, I assume.

Yes, whoever has the crappiest connection gets to host.

Usually migrates to me and my hosting is impeccable.

Who ever deck mustard is the rat in the flat... left their own Lobby once I entered it. I sent them a friend request and a party invite I got no reply. Why would someone do that to themselves?

I'm pretty sure the penguins in Antarctica have a better connection than I do, but somehow, I usually end up being the host if the original one leaves. Not something I'd wish on anyone, so to me it seems random, leaning toward the "whoever has the crappiest connection" theory. On occasion, I've stuck through some host migrations and had decent hosts, that is, when RNGesus doesn't throw the entire team under the bus and selects me as the host.

If only it could be as simple as choosing the next best connection. XD

The majority of the time when the host leaves, i will leave as well...that s**t just throws me off. I'd rather start a new game and sometimes it seems like when the game pics a new host, i don't have any ammo powers on my gun. I will only stay if it's wave 9 or 10, but anything earlier than that i will just bounce...

I heard you can alter something in coalesed.win to increase the chance of being picked by the RNG server as new host.

Maybe it checks for whoever had the closest location to the original host in an attempt to minimize lag differences?

If it seems random could it be something really stupid, such as the order in which people readied up prior to the match starting?

Of course I don't remember the details, but IAI20120312 probably knows how, that's why he always leaves his own lobby.
