Mainly because the flaws in this game really show on the hardest setting.

1.You really do have to play a certain way to beat this game on Nightmare. I'm a double dagger rogue, so things are pretty hard already. I REALLY encountered trouble dealing with the Apostates in Witchwood. I died at least 6-7 times before I got lucky and the AI bugged out, and when I got to the alternate future in Redcliffe, I had to give up and go down to Hard, because my team couldn't take all those wisps after the Venatori had already whittled us down.

2. The AI is ridiculously bad. Sometimes my companions will stand there and do literally nothing. Sometimes the enemy will stand there and do literally nothing. The tactical menu doesn't work half the time, and when it does finally register, it doesn't matter because the AI settings have been oversimplified and is often useless, which is a shame considering I quite enjoyed setting things up once I got the hang of it halfway through Origins. As a side note, when I first partied with Dorian and was FLUNG INTO THE FUTURE TO UNDO THE EVIL THAT IS AKU ALEXIUS, he used up 5-8 of my potions because he was dying in one hit.

3. The UI could be so much better. Too much button/mouse clicking to move between companions and items. I shouldn't have to scroll through characters in this day and age.

4. Two-handed warriors are still awful, and no amount of enchanted armor can make up for the lack of a shield.

I'm sure many of you have heard these before, but I just wanted to make my opinions known.

For a two-hander, I found investing in the Vanguard tree helps a great deal when it comes to their hardiness (or lack thereof). IB used to fall on me a lot before I started putting points there.

I gave up on insanity because of the first battle and the difficulty targeting the rift along with those control stalls that the AI and myself suffer.

I played Nightmare with DW Rogue. It's difficult at the beginning because you don't have many diverse abilities to handle different situations. Investing in some defensive abilities can help out a lot; I preferred Parry.

Eventually the difficulty evens out as you gain more abilities while enemy abilities remain largely the same.

My suggestion to BioWare would be to scale enemy capabilities appropriate to the enemy's level. A level 24 mage shouldn't be using the same abilities as a level 4 mage.

Vanguard is really necessary for both warriors. S&S just has a bit of an easier road because shield wall is superior to block & slash, but on nightmare absent shield wall an S&S warrior will die pretty fast.
