Ohgren is an abomination. I have never - besides him - actually loathed a Bioware character. His only redeeming feature is that he is an adequate meatshield against the darkspawn. His values are repugnant, his manner is disgusting, his problems are largely of his own creation, he's allergic to responsibility ... ugh. I cannot say enough about how much I dislike Oghren.
I feel the same way about Sera. I'm going with Varric, easy.

Varric, by a mile.
I like Oghren, but the drunk dwarf routine gets old fast. I only like Oghren as a battle buddy, but little else. Outside of killing things, I don't find a whole lot of appeal in him.

I prefer the former of both options...and if those options are being pitted against each other then DA2 Varric wins by a slim margin

Close ties between the two, but if I gotta pick, then it'll be... Varric. I love how he seemed to try and care for everyone in the team
(his friendship with Cole is most endearing, trying to get Cullen a hoby, finishing a book just for Cassandra.. how can I not love the guy?) I kept imagining him picking up stray nugs for some reason, idk why

Both were so good, and Steve is awesome! I even had the pleasure of meeting him (we both favor Vincent in FF7), but I just fell for Varric and his banter. He really impressed me in DAI by showing an even more serious side than the small moments in DA2. He's very unique compared to other dwarves too. My dear Oghren was a typical dwarf, but loved him no less really. Especially in Awakening. Varric is to Oghren what Iron Bull is to Sten imo.
