Solas. He's serious, interesting and has a great chin dimple. I love his wry little smiles.
Merrill was a big yawn and an embarrassment. I also loath the hatchet faces of the DA2 elves.

I'd go with Merril, even though she is naive and foolish, at least she is good, while Solas is self centered and tend to contradict himself (blood magic)
