Talking seriously, as I remember Bioware doesn't use that kind of drugs on their games (In ME I remember that they used "Hellex" rather than cannabis) In DA we already have Lyrium and seemingly elfroot.

Hallex is the fictional equivalent of ecstasy. As for lyrium, it's a totally different league considering that it actually serves a function.

I'm sure there is something other than alcohol that people use to get high, we just don't know what it is.

If pot existed in Thedas, Samson might have been able to chill out and not become a Red Templar a-hole.

not to mention selling kids into slavery to feed his addiction.

And the elfroot? It has been suggested that it is addictive, but I don't remember have seen anyone getting high with it, maybe it works as pot I guess, anyhow, if cannabis or an equivalent shows up in DA universe, I wouldn't use it for me, I would try to drugging a Dragon and see how a high High Dragon acts like. xD

I'm pretty sure pot already exists in Thedas, how else do you explain Sera?

I'm not sure she even used drugs before in her life. She seems like someone who enjoys boozes, but never saw her doing hard drugs.

I probably wouldn't get lost nearly as often.  It sounds strange, but I remember being able to get like super focused on navigation (or just lucky) IRL.  I wonder if the folks who designed the maps did that on purpose.  Devious.

Forget using cannabis to keep the templars in line. Administer it to the mages and the templars would no longer be necessary because all the mages would be sitting around pondering infinity and trying to figure out what happens when you subtract 1.

Pot is not a hard drug, it's just labeled that for the false drug war are gov(US) is fighting

I'll express my thoughts here:

1) Introducing cannabis in general would be a change in lore that isn't really needed. They've talked about pipe smoke before in the books, but it seems to be more akin to tobacco.
2) No matter how innocuous that pot seems for one person, it could be extremely bad to another. Lyrium is fictional.
3) Pot, the last time I checked, doesn't grant magical abilities. Nor should the writers do it that way. If pot were introduced, I'd prefer to see it in the surgeons area or being using to help former Templars to kick the lyrium habit. Not as a substitute for lyrium.

Edit: Pot smoking to free Tranquils wouldn't work. The only way to free a Tranquil is to have their minds be touched by a spirit. No lyrium, herb, drink or smoke on Thedas can bring them back to themselves. Only a spirit can.
This is coming from someone living in Colorado.

I agree with getting Templars off lyrium, same as addicts use pot to get off hard drugs(pills,crack/coke,heroine,meth)

If Cannabis was introduced into the world of Dragon Age,

It would be free advertisement.

EA should be compensated according for advertising Cannabis. They wouldn't be the first to peddle for another industry.

It would cheapen the DAI product, and I wouldn't care for it. That is just my opinion.

Fenris and Solas would get the munchies, go on an epic roadtrip to find snacks, whilst listening to "Hungry like the Wolf".

If Cannabis was introduced into the world of Dragon Age,

That wouldn'T be politicle correct.

We have even dark skined people in the nobility (Vivienne). That does not fit in the dark european setting. But it is politically correct.

Credibility? What is that?

What does the presence of cannabis have to do with political correctness?

Because it is in the gray area (the politics says no, the medicine say yes, for the sufferers (I dont believe the politics)) and could lead to problems with "would like" moralists.
