I keep reading Cannibals each time this thread makes it on top, and then remember there's talk of weed and joints.

Hallex is the fictional equivalent of ecstasy.
Not really.

It's almost like it's a meaningless buzzword.
I could kiss you right now.

Wonder what would've happened if Orsino and Meredith just discussed their issues over a joint. Same for Loghain/Cailan, the entire story could be different.

I'm pretty sure pot already exists in Thedas, how else do you explain Sera?
That's not pot, it's crack.

Honestly? They probably still would have fought. I know that for most people, a joint would mellow them out. Still, the myth that pot smokers don't fight is just that. They fight and get physical, they are just less likely to than if they were drunk.
I did know one...gentleman in my past that got stoned off of non-laced marijuana at a party and went into a psychotic fit. He was threatening to kill everyone there, complete with brandishing a knife. I got the host to throw the stoned psycho out. He had a lot of mental problems, but usually kept them under control. THC unlocked his control and it was ugly. So marijuana might have helped Meredith and Orisno, or it could have made things even worse.

The thing was Loghain now that I think about it, was that it was personal, Cailan was having an affair behind his wifes back, a wife that just happened to be Loghains own daughter, and with an Orlesian Queen no less.

What's still with Loghain?
That's kinda the point. One thing all drugs do is alter brain chemistry. People on pot sometimes become very focused on something, like with all hallucinogens. If it's a good place, it's a wonderful place to be. If it's a bad place, it is a living hell. Unfortunately, there's no way of knowing if you're going to get lucky or not. Most people do get silly and laugh a lot and have a lot of fun, but for some people, it goes straight for the panic override switch.
I always figured with Loghain, watching what happened to his family under the Orlesians caused him to be unable to forgive them or accept that all he knew as fact had changed. He was really doing the right thing, strategically. What you choose to focus on has such a huge impact on the way you look at people, you can sometimes just not be able to see that there could be any other way of looking at it. Because that attitude is sympathetic doesn't make it harmless. Plus, I'm an old softie and like Steve Valentine's voice. I always go with Al. It wasn't his fault for being born.
That's where the cannabis would come in. What I just typed would make perfect sense, then, and I'd sound pretty profound and go off and form a cult somewhere.

I'd prefer it if cannibals ate the pot heads of Thedas. And the real world... did I say something?
