Splatoon: A third person shooter where teams face off using ink based weaponry to paint the most terrain and claim it for their team. Also you can turn into a squid for some reason.

 

I've been intrigued by this since last years E3, and its nice to see Nintendo go all out and try something completely new. Its significantly swayed my decision to get a Wii U.

 

Its also responsible for some of the best worst craziest advertising I've ever laid eyes upon.

It was originally something entirely different. One interview said something about players "shaped like tofu blocks" *shrugs*.

 

I can only imagine testers gave it a go and said "needs more euphemisms".

Too bad it's 70$ here. I don't like team-based pvp games enough to pay that much. I'd consider it if it was 50$ or less. It does look interesting.

That's a shame. It seems to have been treated like a budget title over here in the UK and preorders have been under £25 in some places.

 

But then, our only major games retailer also had a truck holding their entire sock of limited edition copies stolen... so we also have that going for us.
