There are a number of holes in this study, mainly that they chose white-only university students, that the sample size was quite small for larger extrapolation and the nature of the prejudice bias test being less than ideally structured... still, it is an interesting concept. It is, essentially, effective brain washing to rid people of biases.
Is this ethical? Necessary? Good? Evil? I leave it up to the BSN to pass judgment.

Good intentions/noble ends as justification for questionable means has always worked out before, so...

So they are essentially brainwashing them. Yeah that's a bad idea.

Incidentally, going to a hypno-therapist to quit smoking is brain washing as well.So they are essentially brainwashing them. Yeah that's a bad idea.
If it is voluntary, I'm not sure where I come down on it. But if it is involuntary, hell-to-the-forking-nah.

A study released today in the journal Science states that white people can be reprogrammed to change negative attitudes towards women and minorities through a process that involves a short training program and using tones while they sleep.

That might be it. Not literally. The phrasing is just making me smile right now. I'm sick though. Literally. Like, I have a cold. Not like Recon sick.

I wanted to be accurate, since that's all the study proved - maybe it doesn't work on Asians or Hispanics? Lol

Am I to take it that this doesn't work on black/yellow/red/green/blue/purple/magenta/cyan/infrared/ultraviolet people?

It hasn't been tested on ROYGBIV people, only white ones. It may or may not work on them, but it's still technically an unknown.

This might even be funnier if it was phrased in general as "racist people can be reprogrammed...'. Don't ask me why though. Cause sick. I'm laughing at everything right now.

Given that there are studies where black children point to black baby dolls stages as early as three when asked to point at the "ugly" doll, maybe we're all racists. And sexists.
Some crazy, twisted part of me wants to see someone go mad scientist with this and create a brigade of politically correct brain washed kids, just to see what the flock would happen.

Mental conditioning isn't equal to free moral choice.
That's where the study lacks totally of consistency.

Well, it's true that the study shows no causality of saying "these brain washed white people treated of viewed women and minority's any better," just that they were less likely to draw the negative connotations during the bias tests. Still, makes for good conversation.
