Damn, Isabela needed a nerf, but 250% is more than expected.
That's what happens when you hire someone with no understanding of the game to tinker with it on a weekly basis.

Looks like an interesting change to SB. The previous 20 mana cost was just too much of a nerf for me to have it as an active skill.
Despite its nerf in output now, I think it can work out. Will give it a go.
Thanks. ![]()
He just said on stream people use bolt too much.
Bolt is the new SB
A bit too much nerf in my opinion. I just started playing them but not long it seems, me sad. ![]()
I think people are being too hard on Luke. It seems like he is trying hard to come out with the right balance change and it was necessary to nerf some of isabela's abilities. Whether the nerf was too much is hard to say at the moment but if it is, Luke will probably fix it later on like he did with the archer's longshot for example. Cut him some slack guys!
I'm kind of curious what the rational behind this change is. I was under the impression that the more powerful but costly spirit blade needed a weakness ability + restorative veil to spam constantly, so it already was useful without being the only ability needed. I'm thinking that the greatly reduced damage is going to make spamming fade cloak with gathering storm pretty much always a better choice than using spirit blade (plus a slower fade cloak).
Off-topic: that message was difficult to type--the editor kept rearranging where the quote was. Is anyone else having this problem?
That's what I was thinking. With such a big hit to SB's damage, it seems like it's a bigger nerf to SB AW's overall effectiveness. Yeah, Stone Fist and Restorative Veil are once again not mandatory in order to use SB effectively, but I find SB builds perform better overall with Stone Fist to go along with Fade Cloak, giving the AW more than one knockdown ability to crush blocking enemies. So now I'm unsure what to do. Either I just keep my current build, adapted to compensate for a 20 mana cost SB, or get rid of SB entirely, cause I most certainly am not getting rid of Stone Fist. When you get right down to it, Stone Fist > Spirit Blade. Man...I really wish the mana cost was simply reduced to 15. This next-to-no mana cost with damage cut in half seems bonkers. It's a spell, it should have some cost and power, rather than be a basic melee attack replacer.
Do the math mate!
It cost now 5... And does 150% damage...
It costed 20 and does 300% damage...
So now you can swing it four times for a total of 600% damage instead of once for 300%...
If you only consider the stamina cost as an issue and not the killing speed.
Because it now means you deal 300% damage at half the cost... but twice the time. This does make the AW more tanky again, but quite inefficient.
It's always hard taking a nerf, but come on, Isabella's was needed.
Why has Spirit Blade been completely flipped? The high cost/high damage approach was fine. Considering staff attack speed plus the two bonus attacks from completing the attack cycle, Spirit Blade seems pretty pointless now. No way am I going to chase stuff for melee attacks when I could be spamming ranged attacks with an extra spell.
The Duelist changes make sense. Still, I avoided playing as her in case the challenges weren't retroactive. Sad that she got nerfed before I played her properly.
Nerfing the duelist (albeit maybe too much) I can understand, but no changes to virtuoso? Can't say I agree with that...
Increasing Isabela's cooldowns would be better than reducing the damage, no?
Well now. Reducing damage of one core ability by 25% and the other by nearly 50%. That's the harshest nerf so far, isn't it?
While I don't necessarily condemn the Broadsides nerf, it is a bit excessive, no? Its damage was almost halved...
They want you to only mark enimies with bolt, not use as a ranger style attack it seem.
But, that's like, what makes Isabella fun. She was a true ranged/melee hybrid. Spend stamina in range, generate it in melee.
I still don't think I'll be using Gangway...
Welp Izzy's getting benched.
Broadsides was powerful but the targeting is hella funky. When it hit a group like it was supposed to, yeah maybe it was OP in some cases depending on your daggers. When it missed hitting the group and only targeted one enemy (which was more common at least for me), it can be awful!
This game is becoming less fun by the week...
