I think I'll stick with the salvage chests.

If you have >~312k gold spent you are in the top bucket.
I didn't know that. lol I'm at 660k. I thought there was another thread where it was said the top tier was 1,300 large chests. I'm not sure what the treasure room chests count as, though.
15,000, are you kidding me? Now I remember why I hate how you unlock stuff in ME/DAI MP, the amount of grind you need to do to get the chest you want.
I would have less issue with it if things would come out of the loot pool after getting it a certain number of times, like the gear, weapons, and mods in ME3.

Its actually 1,300 items looted(including treasure doors, etc). Most people hit this pretty early.

I'd consider buying it just for the potential level 23 rare armor upgrades. But there's not even labels on the chests. So I have no idea which is assault or protector.

That's one pricy chest to buy with platinum.

Exit and Restart the game.

I started saving after the class chests and I had enough to buy 2 of these monsters. I got a superb ring of armor penetration and a superb of flanking. Thanks for wasting my time. It's my fault for hoping for something worthwhile.

For 15k gimme 20 medium chests instead, I could use the salvage more than the items after last weekend's 150 chest bonanza.

Doh! Why did I spend my meager 15,000 grand last night before bed.

500 platinum sounds tempting. Guaranteed purple accessory you say?
pay-to-win for the win. I'll be buying.
Maybe pay for promotion stats in the future?

Class specific chests were OP.
Anything would have been a joke in comparison.
Not sure you guys are looking at these chests in the right way. You would be hardpressed to get one unique accessory in 13 chests (12.5) or 15K gold.
Sure its expensive...but with dragon weapons now in the game, accessories are the jackpot. Personally, I am approaching 1.5 mil spent and still don't have a superb cooldown amulet, superb crit chance ring or superb crit damage ring.
Worth it to buy these instead of large chests, imo. Will I likely waste the 30K gold I have saved? Yes. But would I likely have wasted it on large chests too? Yes.

Tried opening one of these chests to see what I got. Got a 5% attack ring and a 10% melee defense belt. Not exactly worth 15k imo.

First chest, superb frost defense belt. Great. Second chest, superb crit ring. ALREADY HAVE TWO.
But hell, for sure purple accessories are damn worth 15k, considering they are all you need after dragon weapons.

I think Bioware figured that people still buy platinum after last weekend chests and thought that raising the gold price to exorbitant levels might encourage more people to invest real money.
Bad practice....
I pass on those chests this weekends.
Dont buy platinum! Dont encourage them!

This was an approximation, hold while I get the actual odds... it's actually closer to 1:20 but if you're in this bucket you'll always get one purple accessory.
Soo... would it be possible for you to part the curtains on the exact sections those 'buckets'?
As a new player that definitely isn't one of the 'one-percenters', these weekend events are a real dilemma. Last week I bought a (at least for me) huge amount of those chests and it felt like the items capped at item level 15. Never saw anything above, it was blue rings galore. Meanwhile the forum users flipped out about all the sick loot they got.
I started switching back to regular chests at the last day, because at least I know I'm able to get higher item levels out of those. Only white weapons for now, but at least there's the possibilty for an upgrade.
This weekend, with the new and superexpensive chests I'm really wary to start buying them. The first one had an - again - item level 15 accessory.
I got the feeling I'm capped there within my current 'bucket'.
The uncertainty kinda ruins the fun a little bit, it would be great to know where exactly one stands in the loot hierarchy. Are purples only unlocked after a certain level? Are there itemlevel caps in place somewhere? If these weekend chests are only offering the good stuff to the people that invested even more hours into the game: welp, that's the design decision and I have to live with it. But I'd at least like to _know for sure_, please take that into consideration.
Thank you.

Works for me though. I like being able to buy the stuff instead of taking the time to grind. Time is the limiting constraint, money not as much.

If it was guaranteed purple I'd do it, but it's still just a chance so it doesn't seem worth it. I certainly don't need any more runes, I'd prefer to have a chest that guaranteed NO runes.
