That is the point of the RNG model. It's not about your personal sense of entitlement.

 

The whole entitlement argument drives me absolutely bonkers.

 

He's earned 1 million gold and invested a tremendous amount of hours into the game. Of course he deserves Something.

 

Saying he doesn't deserve anything, is more ludicrous than saying he deserves everything.

 

What someone does deserve, after earning 1 million gold and investing hundreds of hours is up for debate, but saying they deserve nothing and bringing up the old "entitlement" argument is just foolish.

 

You can argue and say, but, but, but "rng",... "that is how this game works",... "Working as intended", but it's the core problem of this games loot system.

 

I'm just glad to see them taking steps to address some of the loot problems. It's very late and still not great, but they are getting better. Dragon drops, new improved chests and such.

I think the fix to this issue is this:

 

No ceiling to your chest item score. 

 

It goes up and up just like your promotes stats.  At a certain point, you will be nearly guaranteed to drop level 23+ items in nearly every chest you open.

This would be a logical way to build loot progression. .as you increase in promotes, loot score and prestige so does your % of getting higher lvl/unique gear..

Thats my point, he has something already. It may not be exactly what he wants (E.g Caliban), but thats OK too.

 

I'm "only" at 476K earned / ~200 hours played and I don't have Caliban either. However, with the release of tier 2 and 3 schematics (And last weeks class chests) pulling a Caliban will no longer get me going "OH **** IT'S ON NOW!" because I already have what it will offer me (HoK mainly) through a T3 schematic.

 

It'll be a "nice to have", not "NEED TO HAVE OR I CAN'T PROGRESS ZOMG!1!". There are very few, if any, progress gates in this game from an equipment perspective. Both before the Dragonslayer DLC, and after.

 

This discussion is purely from a viewpoint of players wanting to max out their manifests, as a sort of "See me, I did that!" because it was possible in ME3MP. And that, from a bottom line perspective, is what I have a "problem" with.

Thats how it is today. The curve just flattens out earlier than the high end players with lot of playtime prefers.

The items will come, eventually. I guarantee you the 1million gold guy has plenty of viable endgame weapons.

Weapons wise I have everything minus the Caliban, Sulevin, Emperor Shield. We can also argue that I lack 2nd and 3rd best in slot for one hander, but those are really not important to me and never were. I also lack a purple HoK ring (even if I have 3 blues), purple cooldown and stamina amulets.

 

I am not starving and never did .

 

My problem is that I want to play what I want, not what BW wants me to play. And, while some classes are perfectly playable with non-BiS weapons, I am getting annoyed that I have to play without them. For instance, I want to play my Templar with Caliban + Emperor Shield, just `cos, or my Legio. I also want the other purples on them, so I can test various builds, without the need to promote 70 times to make up with stats. I can`t, and while I DO have options, I refuse to settle with less at this point .

I only like to play. I despise promotions and have a ridiculously low number of them - zero warrior, 2 mage and only 22 rogue. I do own Necro and Archer char banners, though, because I simply liked to play them; I would also like to play all my toons, when I want them and how I want them at lvl 20 with a full template, just because. My manifest has more to do with what the game offers me versus time "invested" - and it SHOULD offer me everything at 1 mil and 500 hours. It DID offer 90%, but it is no longer enough

I am really tempted to buy one of these, but then I realize I have multiple filler purple accessories (2x purple penetration ring, some stats amulets, resist belts) and I realize that I have like a 70% chance to get a duplicate of a bad item.

Priced at 15,000 gold.  The costs of chests are determined by the drop rate of the items inside. Accessory's are super rare, thus a chest that guarantees them is expensive.

 

Most accessories are not valued, even though they're rare, thus we're miffed by the ones that are presented here. Of the accessories there are lots of 'junk' accessories that are not effective.

 

Compared to last weekend's class chests, the cost is an insane increase of cost. Last week offered a guaranteed accessory for 2.5k AND it was more directed loot tables specific to our needs, which offers better odds overall of getting something useful. Even if this was 5k valuing two accessories over a guaranteed weapon, it doesn't reduce the loot table to something we specifically need, driving the equivalent cost to 3x. Given the 15k starting value, the relative cost of this class chest is something like 45k or more.

 

No thanks. Will not recommend.

Funny thing, I did the calculations and you could've had everything at the 1M mark, if you spent it differently. Of course you'd have to stop buying regular large chests by the 300-400k mark (getting highest item score), and have saved the rest of your gold for last weeks class chests. I actually did buy roughly 250-300 class chests last weekend (costing me 600-700k gold), and had near everything 2-4 times over ( certainly got those listed above, most of my purchases were warrior chests ). Arguably luck does play a large role in it (I didn't get red birth, but rogue chests were 2nd or 3rd most purchased), but over the course of 300 chests , spot luck is less of a factor.

Well, I decided to be stupid and bought 2 chests. Stupid is as stupid does, got useless duplicates.

 

10/10 would stupid again if I had the gold.

Got my 6th Superb HOK ring out of an in-game chest last night. I am sorry for your terrible luck.

 

I opened 4 of these chests in an attempt to snag a Superb Crit Damage Ring or Superb Cooldown Amulet.

 

Got the following:

 

2 x Superb Belt of Cold Resist (Salvage)

2 x Enhanced AP rings (Salvage)

1 x Superb Stamina Amulet (Duplicate but IMO one of the best amulets in the game)

1 x Superb Cunning Amulet (didn't have)

 

Not terrible. Probably better than what I would have gotten opening 60K worth of large chests.

For me, I opened 8 and it was all salvage.
The most painful part was on 2 protector and 2 assault chests, I got the EXACT same draw, all of it.

really I haven't even logged 200 hours yet and already have several superb accessories (hok/cooldown/ranged def/crit chance)along with a couple of purple weapons lvl 20+, and I got a but load of superb runes, most of which I generated from large chests when I only had the initial 3 chars all promoted once and releveld to 20, stopped getting decent drops from chests as soon as I got more toon cards though until after they had also been leveld up and promoted and releveld to 20...... I don't know what the likelihood of getting decent gear from chests is but it seems you get much better loot when most (if not all) toons are lvl 20 having been promoted at least once, and slightly  faster purple drops during event weekends, on my pc account I have griffon and pbtm, dragon shield (lvl 25) and at least 2 of every purple accessory (most of which I salvaged) yet so far I haven't even had 600k gold earned in game (and no pay to win used either)

 

so despite having low hours low promotions I still have half way decent gear (if not the top end stuff) on both pc and xbone accounts .... seems to me like bioware used the same rng alogorithm from me3 (better loot during challenge events, better loot when all chars are levelled to 20)

 

no doubt they will now provide us with a promote 20 times event just to stiff everyones loot drop chances .....

This is my problem with their rng system.  If it's true rng and no glitches are involved what are the odds of this happening?  It has to be so astronomically low as to be impossible.  Yet, this happens all the time - to me as well.  Consecutive chests open up and I get the same things.

The class chests were awesome and they did help me fill out some other things, but yeah, no, HoK eludes me still as does Caliban and Sulevin. And I pounded those Warrior chests, I really did.

I spent 2.5 mil before I saw my HoK ring from the regular chests... I'm sure you will have better luck than me    Just keep rolling the RNG dice
