Hard to say. If you're like me and you have to have anything and everything that adds story content to the main game of any DA or ME game, then yes. Absolutely. For me, $15 is nothing if I'm spending hours going through extra story and dialogue with new characters. I actually like the story and I think I kind of love the Avvar a little bit. I find that the quality of the quests and the cohesiveness of it all are tighter here than what you'd get in other zones, and even some smaller quests give you options on how to resolve them, rather than just kill this or that or loot a chest and you're done. It also has some of the most challenging enemies in the game, though the dragon itself is not one of them.

On the negative side, at least it is for me, the entire thing is sort of an island unto itself, which is to say, it doesn't add content to Skyhold, like dialogue about the revelations of the DLC, which is a bit frustrating in Cassandra's case, given what we find out about the last Inquisitor.

That being said, you don't get that much content for the money. I think you can wait a bit on this if you're on the fence.

For 10 bucks I'd be interested, not 15.

I really think it should be $10 too. Especially if you compare it directly to what you get in the base game. That said, it was fun.

I already regret my purchase one hour in, the map feels so empty at times. Rushing from one point to another just to fight some monsters that are not challenging enough for my end-game builds. I expected better. Haven't started the storyline of the quest, just doing the extra stuff. The map doesn't feel lively at all at the moment. It needs more stuff moving around. Nice colors, though.

I think it's a good DLC but it really shouldn't have been $15

I think you'll enjoy the main quest. It picks up there and gets very interesting. I do recommend waiting until you did all the other quests first because once you beat the main quest, it's always nighttime and harder to see stuff. I learned that the hard way. Lol

If you like the open world and side quests in vanilla DAI, you'll probably like it (Although $15 still seems way too much for me). If you want a story with cinematic cut scenes and choices then no.

I personally enjoyed the DLC , and considering what I usually spend $15-$20 on in the name of entertainment this particular purchase (I'm on pc) has gotten more hours stuffed into it then any of my other usual splurges. Not that i think $15 is anything really, it's really not that much money. A couple of softdrinks and snacks? Maybe popcorn and a rented movie? definitely cheaper then going to the cinema (in my city anyway). In all, $15 for something I have access to for years to come is nothing compared to what I'd usually spend it on in a week.

Just wondering, I am going to be playing this soon. Near the end of the game, and I wanted to see if it is better to complete this after finishing the game because I will likely have a character or two vanish at the end. If the dialogue isn't that much different, I was going to do it before defeating the last boss.

I'd do it first. The dialogue is a bit different, but that way you get to use Solas and will still have a use for the gear you get, which you won't if you do it last.

It's not that $15 dollars is a huge amount of money, it's that you have to look at it compared to the price of the base game ($60-70 dollars) and compare what you get with both. In my opinion, you need to have it have a fairly proportional amount of content compared to the price, and in that regard, I think JoH is overpriced, despite being good.

Inquisitor imo has some funny lines if you've already killed Cory. 2 of my 4 JoH runs were Quizzies who had already killed him, 1 was before arbor wilds and 1 was after arbor wilds but before Cory. I personally enjoyed the post-game ones more. It changes the zone's main story dialogue to a point, also what you chat to npc's about. But doing before gives you Solas for more interesting dialogue so, up to you.

If you like the lore, exploring, and figuring out complex fights, then yes.

If only like a direct plot, and plenty of cutscene, no it's not much in this dlc.

Fun. Tough. Great stuff - new materials, weapons, schematics. Cool story. worth 15.00 - about $1.00/hour of fun. Well worth it.

Compared to the base game though, that ratio is bad. Both of my completionist playthroughs were 200+ hours, so that's like 30 cents per hour. Even if it was 120 hours, that would still be twice the worth of Hakkon in terms of cost/time.

What joke? Did I miss it? Please tell.

Read Danisaur's response at the top :)

Thanks, Ashaantha and BansheeOwnage! Really good points about the dialogue, Solas, and equipment usage. I will likely run it before the end to hear Solas (in main party this round) and try out the equipment on the ending areas. Then I'll make another PT where I do it post-ending without worrying about anything and enjoy the new pieces of dialogue. Again, thanks you two!

I've read a lot of threads on JoH opinions and I can say that the one thing both sides consistently agree on is that $15 is too high for what it actually offers. That said, I don't think any of the DLCs have ever gone on sale so it's pretty much going to stay at this price for the foreseeable future.

It costs about as much as two cocktails, and you'll spend far longer playing it than drinking those, I guess.

If you are with Cullen and Dorian makes this joke about not looking down when you are high up on a large tree branch (I think), you can say "too late" and he says if you fall to your death he won't want to be the one to tell Cullen.

Great loot and a good 10-15 hours' worth of stuff to do, but it adds nothing to the story.

So, depends on your priorities, I guess.

The DLC was good. Was it worth 15$ on the spot? Yes-ish. If you plan on replaying the game down the road or want an add on to an existing character it'll feel like a good natural high level area addition to the game. If you're only looking for "more story" to add to your single play-through then it'll probably be less worth it.

I enjoyed it. I think $10 would be a more reasonable price, but I don't regret my purchase.

Luckily it's been out long enough for you to decide whether it'll be worth it for you. There's a fairly interesting and cohesive main plot, and a lot of side stuff to do as well. Not unlike the base game. I found the enemies challenging and the side quests well designed, which isn't something I could always say about the side content in DA:I. Yeah, there are shards to collect but besides that there's a notable lack of "fetch quests." I finished it in roughly ten hours.

If you're the patient type (I'm not) then pick it up when it inevitably goes on sale. $10 is worth it IMO, $5 is a steal.

Ehh hate to be that guy and certainly i'm not bashing on BW but I'm currently playing TW3 which is tons of hours of content (if they released the JoH DLC earlier it would have been a different story)....if you combine this with the TW expansion pass (two expansions of respectively 10 and 20 hours) I already purchased for 25 bucks you can guess I'm pretty busy till the beginning of the next year.

BW really have to pull a new DLC that I might find interesting to take away my attention from TW.

I can see buying JoH DLC in the future when it will be on sale.

I will say this: the map is saturated with level 24 tuskets. Seeing these helpless high level creatures turned me into a poacher.

I like the DLC. It would be better if the DLC would not cost 15 Euro. (They change only the currency symbol)

The side quests are better, the map is better, it is not like death like the Exalted Planes. The map story is very interesting and I am very satisfied that I can see a new culture in Dragon Age. I like the Avvar und his "Gods". It is in Dragon Age more realistic than elven gods and the Maker/BioWare.

I want a Spirit of Fade for my Inquisitor. :D And Yayyy, the Inquisitor get a new spell,, finally. Give back the amuletts. My first 5/6 Inquisitors have 31 skill points,  the 4 others have only 29 Skill Points after the DLC.

But I have no understand one thing. Are the fishermen alive after the Story?
