$15 for another map of side quests with no impact on the story is too expensive. $10 sure, but not $15.

I would say that JoH offers a good deal of impact to the story. With the additional lore, history, dialogue, resources (eg; Agents, crafting, etc) that the DLC does a wonderful job of adding much to the end game and story overall; before or after facing Cory.

For me it was the twist at the end that sold me when I beat it.

I looked through all the various comments and opinions you guys were kind enough to give me and decided to buy it. The difficulty scale is through the rough, but it gives me the motivation I needed to actually search out schematics and stuff. Thanks guys!

Lore, agents and crafting have no impact on the end game whatsoever. JoH is just a nice map with side quests and OP gear and crafting resources.

I agree it should be $10, but it's easily the best area in the game, in pretty much all categories. It looks beautiful, has great combat, great resources, the best sidequests and the best story/lore discoveries. Oh, and best banter too, because for some reason it seems to be the only area where banter plays at the intended intervals.

I say it's well worth it and anyone who disagrees with me is a cheapskate.

Yay!  It is really tough, but you can learn new ways to fight and you'll probably learn to enjoy combat in both games a whole lot more.  I know I do, now that I'm using my eyes and fighting in real time, for the most part.  I was pausing every second or third move, but after the Hakkonites, mooks in the main game seem too trivial to waste a pause on, and who knew?  It's more fun this way.  I'm really glad you like it.  There will be some more challenges later, like finding Colette, but people here will be more than willing to help if you get stuck.  If you'd like my opinion again, I suggest buying whatever armor schematics and Bianca upgrades (there's no schematic, but the upgrade is really good) are available from the Avaar merchant, but not getting worked up on the rest if you don't like to craft.  I do, so it's the best part, but some folks say it's tedious, so you really don't have to if you don't want to.  There are some truly sweet loot items you'll find that help a lot, and more than anything else, the fights here are all about tactics.  The suggested level to explore is 20, but you can do it lower if you're good with combat mechanics.  I'm not, so it took a while, but the loot drops after the battle will inspire you to learn.

Nice strawman you got there.

Come on, kids, play nice.  Money does mean different things to different people and value is very subjective.  Frankly, I think it's worth more than $15 and feel like I've been given a huge bargain, and I also live on a fixed income.  For me, it's the price of a movie and fast-food meal for one.  That $15 will entertain me for an evening, about 4 hours.  There's nothing I want to see in the theaters right now, and I hate fast food, so I think to spend $15 on something I don't enjoy is a huge waste of money.  I wouldn't go so far as to say that you're nuts if you disagree, but neither will I let you say that I'm wrong for feeling like the price is more than fair.

Please don't turn the thread into a bitter argument. You disagree and that's your prerogative. We're just discussing things which means a variation on opinions.

Wha? The question was, is Hakkon worth $15. I gave my answer to the question.

I'm sorry I guess my comically grumpy old man voice did not come across properly when I used the light-hearted term "cheapskate," which is not typically used in a bitter argument.

I wish movie tickets were that cheap here :P

There is nothing overpowered. It is only a worst combat gameplay.
DAO with DaA. This was fun.

It was worth it for me.  Great new lore, if you like that aspect of things.  Shiny new toys, and a more focused story area.  It isn't linear, but it definitely has progression that resembles the core story areas of the main game more than the usual maps.  Looking forward to playing it again with my second Inquisitor and a different party. :D

Does this DLC add any new scenes with your  LI?

No. There may be a one liner via dailogue/banter for some of the LI's but honestly, no.

In my years of gaming, I have gotten a lot less for a lot more money. So far, I am really quite happy with You Have to Have a Really Expensive Dentist. But then on the other hand, I am terrible at money, so make of that what you will.

Depends on the person's disposable income.

If 15 $ is a lot of money for someone, that person really shouldn't be spending it on video games, and as such is already out of consideration.

Again, you have to compare it to the price of the base game and the content that offers. Not sandwiches and stuff :P

You're welcome! Glad I could help :)

No you don't. A video game is a luxury item, as is a cocktail. I'm comparing like and like.

Yeah, now if only I could pay for a cocktail once and drink it over and over again without paying extra XD

Completed the JoH on PC. The DLC has one huge region, a lot of new equipment and an interesting plot (though, the best part is at the end). I'd say, it's worth $15.

For me it was the twist at the end that sold me when I beat it.

Spoiler

Agreed.

Except that in Europe it costs 15,00 EUR = 16,46 USD

15,00 USD = 13,67 EUR

So we europeans are paying 3€ more just because.

If the DLC was any good then maybe, but it is not - for me it adds nothing to the game. More boring fetch quests, a short and predictable storyline, stupid Avvars + some dragon-god thingie i couldn´t care less about - a Skyrim rip off, as if that game wasn´t bad enough already, bioware wants now to copy it all over.
