Yeah, I'm pretty sure that poll is messed up. No way are Varric and Cassandra hated more than Vivienne and Velanna.

This thread makes me sad, so much Velanna hate, she deserves so much better

 

I don't really dislike any of the companions, but there is a few that I'm pretty indifferent towards overall. Of those few, ultimately I'd say Sera, just because she's the only one that really drew any genuinely negative emotions from me.

Madamn Vivienne de Fier. I don't hate her and she is a well written character but she doesn't really appeal to me. She is the least talked to companion in my current playthrough and she doesn't really insult people without them realising that they have been insulted several hours later. But she is powerful as a knight enchanter even if she decides to use the Oghren approach instead of the mage approach. 

 

The Runic Golem. Just no. That was lazy and just no. It's just there to back up the Warden. Seriously? Why couldn't we have taken Oghren or another companion for GOA? That said, i don't like GOA due to it being a bit lazy and i've not been inclined to finish it.

Cole. He's my least favourite companion in the series by far if I'm honest.

Cole was my least favorite.  But it might be unfair to him since part of the reason was he was the same character-class as my Inquisitor (dual-wielding rogue), so he was redundant to bring with me in my party.

 

He also was the least interesting to learn about largely because I'd read the book he was in beforehand.  So I already knew all about him, what he was, and his entire backstory.  The other companions were blank slates for me to learn about for the first time.

Velanna is the only one I ever completely disliked.

I actually liked Velanna... then again... I managed to get her affection up, and her character quest didn't glitch out on me. She warms up after all that But she was definitely unlikeable before! I even like Sera to a degree, but that's more of a love/hate relationship. If she weren't so close minded, I'd probably like her a bit more.

 

Definitely Vivienne, though. Can't stand her.

I want to say Vivienne, but I sort of love how much she makes me hate her so I'll have to go with Wynne. I guess I'm just not a fan of high horses.

Morrigan. There are other characters I dislike (Oghren, Sten, Vivienne, Sera, Iron Bull -- I didn't play Awakening or DA2, or this list would likely be longer), but she combines being an abject piece of sh*t without any redeeing qualities whatsoever with repeatedly being rammed down my throat as this plot-critical and oh-so-special-and-awesome superdupermegaNPC. Apparently she's the real protaginist of the series or something, while our recyclable player characters end up abandoned and meaningless as soon as the credits roll. This unique combination of being a horrible character yet someone I'm supposed to adore and someone I'm unable to avoid disgusts me to no end.

 

Everyone else I dislike, I can pretty much avoid recruiting and otherwise ignore with no effect on the story. I'd likely loathe Anders too, and he hijacks DA2, but at least you can shank him and good riddance. I wish I could do the same with Morrigan in Origins and never have to see her face again.

Bethany. As a companion in act one DA2 she's just.. too nice and sisterly.. it did take me almost 2 days to decide on a least favourite companion too.

So she's been in several of the games now, and I even played her backstory DLC but I wonder why she still makes so many appearances and is in inquisition so much. Ever since her character tried to join my group in origins I've told her to go away and she just hangs around like a bad smell. Most of what she says is really boring and dopey, even when she tries to sound cheeky it's really cringe worthy. I'm hoping that if I go use the Dragon Keep site that I can just have her as being dead since the urn of ashes so I can see if there's much of a difference.
