Seriously Bioware - are you really going to spam us with Despair demons (which still hasnt been patched properly btw), archers (which still hasnt been fixed properly) and mages who spam mines everywhere

Did Bioware even consider how new players would be able to handle this? This should have been an optional game-type with additional rewards for completing it.

Can't really argue with that, I've spoken to quite a few newer players yesterday and today who are saying it's really difficult. The jump from routine->threatening is a bit much with this.

Seriously though, it's nonsense. I'd have more fun drilling holes in my testes.

Did Bioware even consider how new players would be able to handle this? This should have been an optional game-type with additional rewards for completing it.

 

I don't think bioware really thinks about challenges, considering how many repeats we have had, and how mundane and terrible the vast majority of them have been. 

 

The only good challenges were the Druffalo challenge and killing dragons. The rest have either been rehashes of each other, or can just be done by soloing a few routine games.

 

We all appreciate the balance changes im sure, but even these seem to be done by somebody who just doesn't play the game at a high difficulty.

If it is then I'm sure as hell not playing it, spawning more ranged units that pretty much stunlock you into the fade isn't my idea of fun.

Hence why they should have made it optional, like OP said this really isn't fair on newer players.

Its not challenging. Its spamming the 'annoying' units. (Looking at you despair demons and mages) that aren't particularly strong but the sheer volume of interrupting attacks and stunlocks makes for very frustrating gameplay. 

 

Its like the Geth faction all over again.

I'm playing both Perilous and Threatening btw. I had a poor pug with me earlier on Threatening and its was clear that he was new to the game. He simply couldnt not kill enough with the equipment he had and quickly got overrun. I cant fault him for his effort because he at least tried, but its not fun having to solo most waves

I won´t lie, I had to check twice that I am seeing correctly when we met 4 rage demons just in first area and they kept trickling in. Good thing is I was long in Fade when despair demons showed up on final level, together with zillions of venatori mages  :D
(also apologies to our Arcane Warrior who tried to solo it bravely)
 
The already absurd room 3 of FC is now beyond commentary.

It´s even worse, at least Geth required LoS and certain attacks could be dodged. Those despair demons...they hit through walls and without warning.
(or is there any way to dodge that ice spike? maybe I am missing something)

Oh I don't know, it's making them learn team play. I've never seen such cohesion in pugs.

Until the ****ing butt demon does it's ice spike thing while archers do that thing with the bows that's really annoying.

Exactly - Despair demons are incredibly annoying playing as a warrier, Bioware said they fixed their evade move but I didnt notice any difference. And when they can hit you with that mine attack without any line of sight it just becomes cheap

Zone 3 is perfectly manageable vs RTs and Venatori, its the 8 Despair demons that are quite literally constantly knocking you down from behind walls that makes that zone annoying and difficult. The difficulty comes from a wallhacking knockdown attack that is incredibly difficult to avoid on perilous due to its fast attack speed. Think about that.

 

Killed by archers? You probably shouldn't have been out in the open. 

 

Killed by Shadows? You let yourself get flanked.

 

Killed by Despair demon? You were on your back almost all the time through no fault of your own getting your ass pounded by everything else around you.

At least it's not a repeat challenge,and that's cool with me.However the perilous wave budget really should have been better thought out.

I don't disagree with you about it being hard on new players and that this challenge turns the map into a stunlock area of doom, but I had a lot of fun yesterday. I played around with an ice flask Alchemist and felt like a champ when I could freeze 4 rage demons at the same time, and I also played a few games as a Dispelling Keeper (all the barriers popping up meant I could dispel to my hearts content.)

 

At times I felt like a hotdog thrown directly from the freezer into the embers, but in a good way (?) and I don't think this is the worst challenge to date. The elemental-based enemies means new strategies and new kits is required to counter them, and when I'm done killing my share of mages/demons I'll pull out my dispel/barrier Keeper and help others.

Im glad they actually did something different.  Weekend challenges basically have consisted of play normally and you'll get a free chest.

I love this challenge. I hope the venatori stay like this and they add new units to the other factions. plz don't hurt me guys  :wacko:

Absolutely.

 

The Venatori mages summoned demons, which makes sense and even brings a slight hint of story connection. I mean, the mixed faction thing was fun, but also a little too "gamey" for me. If this gets them threads about terrible challenges, yet "kill sh*t with nothing out of the ordinary" is peripherally noted as a slightly inconvenient repetition, I really don't know what to tell them.

 

The "worst challenge" is anything that doesn't momentarily changes the game experience.

Would you say the same if you were a new player right now with no promotions and rubbish gear? I think not. As I said they can keep it like this but have it as optional so players can search for this challenge type

New players should be starting out in Routine.
