If someone has to change their behaviour because suddendly there is a woman present, then that means their behaviour prior to that was ... less than perfect.

Discrimination and prejudice come in many forms, often people don't even realize they are doing it.

While I enjoy the company of women more than hanging out with men I don't change my behaviour or treat anyone differently because of their gender. That doesn't mean I treat everyone equally, that would be dumb. Everyone is different after all.

Thank you for asking. I have been fully certified to answer for all male gamers. The records are kept at the Oxford Institute for Manhood, Albingdon Road.

The reason we act differently upon hearing a woman's voice is that a woman's voice causes small gnomes that live in our ears to activate hormones designed to inspire in us the need to impress females. All this science has been tested and proven at the Oxford Institute for Manhood™.

This is extremely true.

Making matters worse, there are male gamers who have little experience when it comes to social interactions with women in general.  They hear the voice, they recognize a shared interest in the gaming, and this triggers an even greater sense of (awkward) excitement.

This lack of opposite gender experience shared among some male gamers was a fascinating article I read.  It was within a periodical that featured a cover story about water's wetness.  Randall must have seen the same piece.

I am more forgiving if the female player is... 'less skilled', because I am nice.

I do that too! If the male player is fun to play with, that's all I care about.

I wonder if they realize they're saying that women aren't treated differently while some of the people on this thread are horrifically sexist... Naaaaah, that would require intelligence.

Should they supress those opinions because you are women?  Because that would be treating you differently, and you don't want that.

This thread is clearly sexist, or the question would be directed at women, as well.

False Equivalence: a logical fallacy which describes a situation where there is a logical and apparent equivalence, but when in fact there is none.

Nice try, though.

And for the record, I'm not a guy so I don't want to be treated like one. I want to be treated like someone deserving of respect who won't have to deal with sexist bigotry being spouted whenever I open my mouth. Also, not being stalked or harassed would be nice. But I'm not holding my breath.

Yup this same question needs to be asked to women like Jeremiah.

Let's see. I played loads of MMOs so i had some female friends.

I try not to use bad language to anyone anyway. So that doesn't apply to being male or female.

At most i tried to be more reasonable, sometimes explained football rules(Not hand egg, the real football one).

I also learned a lot from them i can admit that. Learned that they had "lurkers" who sent them tells for example. Kids these days.

And yeah, some of them were better players than me aswell.

Another thing i loved to learn was about their cultures, some simple "native language" and some great music that i had no idea about before but that applied to everyone male or female.

So it was a fun experience in total.

TLDR: I don't care if someone is female, male, human or Wookiee as long as they're nice. I'd care if they talk like Chewbacca in VOIP though :)

Edit: It may not apply to a co-op shooter though. Still well, have a free bump at least :)

I treat everyone like they are a woman.

And I can't thank you enough for that.

Don't care whether it's an E-dong or E-boob, just that mines bigger.

My experience is that girl gamers tend to be less rigid and hyper-competitive, with some unfortunate exceptions. I am, therefore, more likely to have actual conversations with them. Since I value that interaction even more than a fast Wave 8, I'm somewhat more likely to end up on friendly terms with them.

As for competitiveness if its obvious I will just laugh at your score and offer you a tissue to clean up.
