Probably since it's an add on evolution for biotic effect sort of like sphere reprimes with warp effect. A level one smash probably only detonates but if you choose biotic effect it likely reprimes as well, two different components of the same power. But that is just a guess.

From what I've seen (and I've been lovin' my SmashLashDept), a quick second Smash is required to re-prime for the pending Singularity boom.

It's a race for me.  Gotta get that Singularity down in a timely enough manner that will allow them to get primed AND then two successive Smashes off -- all during its short lifespan.

Seems right to me. I always smash as many times as I can so IDK .

Another weird tidbit about Singularity: it seems to prime enemies who pass through it, even if they are no longer in the Singularity's (visible) radius when you hit them with a detonating power.

Easy to test with Human Adept vs. a Brute.

Yeah I see that a bit on Banshee's on solos.

That's the piece of the puzzle I'd been missing.

Is this true for all four types of primers? So if I use Incinerate to detonate a tech burst and the target survives, it's now primed for a fire explosion?

Yes.  Which is why the Human Engineer is one of the best combo classes in the game.  You can be detonating some type of tech explosion on every cast, if you keep your cooldowns low (Incinerate has a relatively short priming window).  Or there's the QME, which is basically the same thing on steroids.  Or the Paladin (if you like the sound that results from telling a meth addict that there's meth hidden in the china cabinet).

Negative. If you detonate with Smash, you have to Smash again in time before Singularity detonates to cause another biotic explosion. Like was said before. Biotic detonations only stay primed if a tech combo was detonated.

It's in one of the plates, man. I swear.  :D

Cryo Explosions are the equivalent of a ice pick coming out of your headset and probing your occipital lobe every time they go off.

...if you like the sound that results from telling a meth addict that dinner's ready.  Fresh shards, right outta the oven!

I thought you were going in a different direction so, um, I ftfy.

Paladin's kind of an edge case due to SF-as-detonator doing that weird thing where the explosion is centered on your avatar rather than the target, though, right?

Does that mean the explosion & it's radius takes where it shows it visually too. Or the explosions happen where they are supposed to happen. Sinful if still unfamiliar with this kit.

If someone is interested, check lash to see if it detonates and primes.  I seem to remember one of the phoenix characters powers being able to detonate and simultaneously prime.

Could still be wrong since I haven't played this game regularly in a long time.

Well, that doesn't mean much though, as the only right way to play the Paladin is in melee anyway ;)

Yes, the visual is exactly where the explosion is really going on.

Neat side fact, if you freeze enemies with cryo ammo and detonate with combat powers, and the cryo explosion damage kills them, you get cryo blast points for tech mastery.
