They should have a secret event where pressing any quick chat button twice in a row sets you on fire and loops the sound of your character screaming (only for you) until the mission ends, the screams slowly rising in volume and pitch.  And the event lasts forever.

Biowaer pls.

Lot of good ideas, and also I feel the frustration of the "Over Here" spammers too. Maybe Bioware could add some ability for players to show if they are interested in XP or Treasure/Gold while in the lobby. Like an icon on the far right of your banner or something. As it stands the TR's need some spice and randomness like the Druffalo idea or maybe the chance for several Nugs to pop out of the chest for a loot burst. I basically go with the flow and get them if people want to, and don't if one or more players prefer to speed run, but I just feel the effort/time is not worth the rewards unless you got a strong group that can solo doors or at least only send 2 people to keep the flow of the game going.

I guess the new thing now with the raised mob number is to get all the way to the end of the map then go back to get a door.

One time recently I was in a pug and this Archer who was obviously new was trying very hard to keep up with the wave (while the other 2 dopes got mesmerized by the infinite possibilites behind those doors) he died into the fade.

I finish the wave all the way to the door as the others finanlly decide to help. They then turn right around to get a missed door. They would have let this poor Archer watch for 2 or 3 more minutes as they loot the worlds greatest treasure with those Faded Archer eyes on them. I opened the res door, told them off then left. Stop door trolling people.

30 seconds in whos world?

News flash : the loot aint worth it.

Yes, spamming the "over here" button is extremely annoying.  I never do this myself, but I will press the button (edit: once, maybe twice) and call it out over the mic.  Getting the doors just makes sense to me.  I don't play this game for hours on end and do not have loads of promotions, sitting at around 17 constitution, 26 willpower, and 17 cunning.  I gladly kill everything first, then open the doors or open the doors along the way depending on the competency of the group.  Spamming over here may be kick worthy, but so is teleporting someone who is getting the treasure rooms right before they pick up the gold.  Very rude.

In the end, a system that lets us group with like-minded people would be ideal.  Fortunately, I've mostly found a good group to play with that feels the same.  For those pugging times though, it would be great to select a specific lobby type or show them through a new icon of some sort.  I want the XP too, but I'm not playing this game to grind.  I want to have fun and the gold is part of it.  How else am I going to afford chests to be disappointed in?   :P

Edit:

I prefer the more hopeful tone of this thread previously though, so...what could they do to improve the doors to entice people to get them more regularly?  I've seen a lot of great ideas already.  More XP and gold would be great of course, anything to take away a bit of the grind in the way these games are set up.  Do you want challenges too?  That way you could get more banners, titles, and portraits?  Something like 250 doors for each type?  That would be great in addition to the proposed treasure room guardian challenges for the Arcane Horror and Revenant.  I'd love to see the frost Revenant from Jaws of Hakkon make an appearance as a stronger treasure room boss.  It would mix up his gameplay a bit and make it more fun.

There was a huge influx of people hitting the doors once they announced that looting chests increases your loot score. The problem is that the top tier loot bucket is VERY attainable. If they added more stratum above the current loot bucket that may entice a few more to hit the doors. Or perhaps if there were xp tokens that you can purchase then people might spend gold on that when they have all the weapons and are more interested in XP. Along that line too, maybe if there was more xp to be had from the treasure doors. Idk, have some doors do a wave 5 sort of event for a massive xp boost. But that could maybe be a mega door that requires all 4 classes (a little too skylanders?).

Perhaps others have said this, but make the treasure rooms like mini-raids:

1.  Buff the guarding enemy (more mini-bosses, more adds)

2.  Buff the loot (remember those class chests from two weeks back - those should be the rewards)

3.  Make the treasure rooms larger - arena like - for more epic battles

Make each treasure room raid an experience unto its own.

hey, i spam sometimes.... I use it to punish ppl that don't help. Time and time again i see low lvl ppl ignoring doors and going to the middle of the action just to get murdered, or a lobby with only 1 class were EVERYONE ignores their class' doors.

Honestly, i think you should ALWAYS open the doors, but you don't need to always enter it. When i don't feel like going in, i just open it and keep on with my keeling spree, i let the ppl that want it do it. After all, the worst that can come out are some spiders or more enemies! and if your team dies to that, they don't deserve to live. (unless you are playing with friends and they are carring you, but PUG is not the place for that)

I have a variable policy on opening rooms.

If I'm the only guy who can open it and the others behave, I'll open it and leave it up to them.

Spammers get pulled, trolled, and if I had any say they'd be made to play routine until they quit.

Same with mic douches, try ordering me about and I'll troll ya. Or I'll leave depending on disposition.

If one of them decides to hero a room by himself, I will leave him there.

If the zones clear and they decide to do the rooms, I'll just wait by the exit door until they get done. Douches get pulled.

Yea, I don't want my thread to be just the frustration side of this issue, but the truth is there will always be a gap between new players, grinders, bad players, and risk/reward. The only way to close this gap some is to ensure that something like the Treasure Rooms are fun, challenging, and worth the time/risk it takes to do them. Now if the Raid Boss idea was implemented it may take 5-10 min for each Raid door but if the reward was worth it then people would do it no matter the number of hours already put into playing the game.

The problem currently is that once you get most or all of the Purple items, (which is becoming easier then when I started) then you start to focus more on promotions and that requires xp and doors are not a great sources of xp, and the gold/items you get are usually not worth it to something who has most everything. That being said I do enjoy doors because it makes me feel it's part of an adventure instead of the mindless grind, and I hate to say it but even after 700hrs playing I am still in need of about 7-10 purples that I have always wanted or need. (Please kami-sama give me a 15% cooldown ammy...lol)

So, like the title of this thread the key is to come up with ways to make the doors worth it to more people and hopefully everyone. I really think a way that adds a nice xp boost will probably get the higher level players more interested, but I still like the chance at a loot-splosion (ala Borderlands) out of the rooms everyone once in a while. Be nice to open a chest after a hard fight and get gold and items that are useful, as well as maybe craft mats since I hope crafting continues to grow in this game.

Thanks all for the great ideas!

I'll announce on mic before the match if people would just boot the doors open as you pass them, I'll clear them. None of them are that hard that I can't solo them. If you dont want to do that, fine just run past them, but I'm not waiting for you to go back. Doors can be done quickly and efficiently and it doesn't involve everyone going into them.

I feel like they need to just do a PSA and tell everyone to wait til the end of the zone to do doors, or make it so doors don't open until the Zone is cleared.

Fun fact, if you open the door to the next zone, then go do the treasure room on the FC map, you can jump off the cliff and it will teleport you to the next zones door. It really messes with PUGs, they're like WTF WHERE DID HE GO? and it'll save you a bit of a run, for those who wanna save time.

News flash : the loot aint worth it.

My purple cooldown amulet came out of a treasure room so it was worth it to me, and a friend of mine looted their Caliban from one.

On threatening I'll (reluctantly) unmute my mic to ask people to open doors as they pass so I can clear while they move on ahead. I still need gold for purple HoK and crit rings and this lets me farm it up quickly without adding time to the game. In perilous I pretty much only grab free doors unless other people seem interested, usually after the zone is clear.

Once I have the few items I'm missing I'll open doors if the team wants to, even if only to mix things up and provide a slight change of scenery :)

I think what im trying to say by "the loot aint worth it" by providing some examples and guidelines and behaviors I dislike involving doors.

THREATNING AND BELOW( Perlious I dont mind as much, but id still skip it if others are)

°The act of running all the way back to zone start once cleared, for a chest. Please, just please stop.

°The pre occupation with doors ahead of good teamwork, solid build testing and general pacing.

°The losing of the mind when a door is skipped or You get ported to the next stage, guys its threatning or routine. That might sound snobby but plain and simple I just dont have time to spend 30 or 40 mins in a match.

°You are better served learning enemy attack animations, how to use cover, most dangerous mobs, rez awareness, proper use of dps vs support and flow of battle tactics.

°The new loot chests and new teir weapons and upgrades make the treasure rooms even more cumbersome and boring.

°If your in need of a certain class to open a door and that class is uninterested(mainly said class is not near or past the door, I open doors right in front of me then move along sometimes). Why is it a problem? you want in, I dont. Roll that class next time not sure what else to say.

AGAIN THESE ARE SOME THOUGHTS ON TREASURE DOORS THREATNING AND BELOW.

I like a lot of the things you said. However, I would apply these to Routine and Perilous. The only time I feel like doors are worth bothering with is threatening. If i'm playing threatening, I'm doing it for gold. If I'm playing perilous, its for XP and doors slow that down. If I am running routine, I have made a wrong turn somewhere in life and should rethink my decisions.
