IMPORTANT: Follow these instructions at your own risk! I promise I’m not going to trick you into deleting any data you want to keep, but I’m not infallible!! I’m a noob smacking a keyboard that found something that seems to work.
If you’re like me, you noticed that the Keep seems to be aware of every Inquisitor you’ve ever made, even the ones you deleted or got just partway through the character creation. So, if you're trying to upload your choices FROM a DA:I playthrough TO the Dragon Keep, it’s a nightmare trying to sift through 40 Inquisitors in search of the ‘real’ ones.
I still haven’t been able to get my Inquisitor’s choices to import properly (more on that after the steps), but I HAVE finally managed to delete all those extra “fake” Inquisitors. These directions are long and lack pictures, I’m afraid, but since I was unable to find a similar guide elsewhere, I figured I should post this info before I forget what I did J
This guide is intended for people who have already been using the Keep to create world states for Dragon Age. There are lots of awesome guides out there to help you with basic questions and tapestry editing; this guide is NOT one of those.
-----------------------------------------------------
1) Log into the keep. Get to the point where you’re viewing something in the Tapestry. (I guess this part isn’t necessary, but that’s where I end up whenever I log in, so it seems the best place to start!)
2) In the upper right corner, you should see the word “TAPESTRY”, with a little icon just to the left that looks like three horizontal lines. Click the icon: this should bring up a menu on the left side of your screen: Tapestry, World States, Heroes, Career, etc. In this menu, click “WORLD STATES”.
3) In the upper right corner, you’ll note that the icon with the three horizontal lines is still there, but the word “TAPESTRY” has been replaced by “WORLD STATES”. Just beneath “WORLD STATES” you should see the words “Editable States” with a dropdown arrow. Click the dropdown arrow: you should be presented with the options “Editable States”, “Playthrough States”, and “Shared States”. Choose “Playthrough States”.
4) You will now be presented with a million states, one for every character you have ever created. Click on one, doesn’t matter which.
5) A window will pop open displaying the Warden, Hawke, and Inquisitor for this playthrough. The playthrough will also have a name at the top, probably something nondescript like “Current Playthrough” or “Playthrough 36”. Your first job is going to be to identify which of your playthroughs are real, vs which ones you want to delete. For the ones that are real, you’re going to change the title to something you can easily recognize (like, “MINE” or “My Lavellan”). (For the moment, just ignore the ones that aren’t real; we’ll deal with that shortly. Right now, our priority is identifying the ones you DON’T want deleted.)
“How do I change the title of the playthrough?” Right next to the current title (“Playthrough 36” or whatever), there’s a pencil icon. Click it. Then you’ll be able to type in your new title. Once you’re done typing, notice that the pencil has become a checkmark: click it to tell the Keep to save your new title.
Now, the big question: how do you identify which ones are real? Well, one way is to look at the icons underneath the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor, as these tell you what their major choices were. Most informative is probably the romance icon underneath the Inquisitor: if your Inquisitor romanced someone, you’ll see your LI’s portrait; if they did not, you’ll see a heart with a thorny branch wound around it. Obviously, if this Inquisitor was a throwaway that never made it past character creation, they’ll still have a thorny heart, and if you play like I do, all real playthroughs will feature a romance! Still, I’m afraid to trust my Inquisitor’s legacy to a little icon, and this advice doesn’t much help people who don’t do romances, so here’s a sure-fire alternative that never fails:
a) Log out of the Keep.
Boot up Dragon Age. Load in the last save for one of your characters. No need to make a new save or anything; just log in, then log right back out. Shut down the game.
c) Log back into the Keep, and follow steps 1-4 to get back to the playthrough section: your character will now occupy the “Current Playthrough” slot, right at the top of the list. Click on it, give it a readily identifiable name.
d) Log out of the Keep again. Go back into dragon age, load in the last save for another character, then shut down the game again. Go back into the Keep: now THAT character’s playthrough occupies the “Current Playthrough” slot. Click on it, give it a readily identifiable name.
e) Repeat unti l you’ve identified all of your real playthroughs.
6) Yay, all of your “real” playthroughs should now have proper names. Now, click on one of the leftover playthroughs, one that you want to delete. You should now see the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor’s portraits (imposters! Get rid of them!). Now I will draw your attention to the trashcan in the upper right corner: click it to delete this playthrough.
7) Repeat step 6 for all unwanted playthroughs. At the end, you will be left with one playthrough for each of your real characters.
8) We’ve gotten rid of the playthroughs, but the Keep is stubborn: it’s still hanging onto some shreds of information about your deleted Inquisitors. Go back up to that icon with three horizontal lines, click it to bring up the big menu, and now choose “HEROES”.
9) You’ve now got the option to look at Wardens, Hawkes, or Inquisitors. Click the Inquisitors.
10) Now you’re looking at a giant list of Inquisitors. Click one: in the upper right, you will see text reading “Features in X different World States”. For your “real” Inquisitors, it will say that they’re featured in 1 or 2 world states; for the false Inquisitors attached to those world states you just deleted, it will say that they’re featured in 0 world states. Check out every Inquisitor here, and for the ones marked as having “0 world states”, click the nice big red “DELETE THIS HERO” button.
Ta da! All of your "fake" inquisitors have been fully erased.
-----------------------------------------------------
I still can’t seem to get my completed Inquisitors’ choices to show up in the Tapestry alongside the choices of her “matching” warden + hawke. There are (theoretically) two ways to do this:
Option A) Use steps 1-4 to get back to the “Playthrough States” section. Note that you cannot directly view these states in the Tapestry because you can’t edit these: they’re a static record of things you’ve done. To get it into the tapestry: Click the “Copy to Editable” button on top of one of your states, and tell it to copy it. Now click the dropdown arrow next to “Playthrough States” and go to “Editable States”. You should now see a copy of your character’s playthrough in the list, and you CAN view these in the tapestry. (Note: I had to refresh the screen before I could see the copy). Problem: When I do this, all of my Inquisitor’s choices show up, but my Warden + Hawke are all wrong.
Option
Go to the “Editable States” section and pick out the world state that you carefully crafted and imported to DA:I when you first created your beloved Inquisitor. View it in the tapestry. Go to the Inquisition section, click on “The Inquisitor” section, and click on the inquisitor’s portrait. All of your heroes will appear here—which will be all nice and tidy after step 10—so find the one you want and choose it. I expected that this would load in all of my Inquisitor’s choices to the Keep. It does not; it appears to load in a bunch of default choices.
Please feel free to post corrections or suggestions in this thread. (Or a link to a better guide if you're aware of one
