So i was looking to maybe start a new thread soon on a mages guide, but I've run into some problems as far as what to put down for the spell Arcane Shield. First, I noticed that the spell description on the wikia is considerably different from what I've observed on my PS3.

On the wikia, it has the formula down at (100+ SP) * 0.1 for defense bonus. That means it's a spell's that should start with a +12 bonus at 20 spellpower and slowly increase to +20 by 100 spellpower. This can be augmented by spell augmentation, but normally not a spell that makes a huge difference if you get it at level 3.

On the other hand, I notice the spell is considerably different on my PS3. There the formula is (100+SP)*0.2, and the defense bonus is accompanied by an accompanying equivalent boost in missile deflection. So at 20 spellpower you would have a +24 bonus with both defense and missile deflection. The doubling of the defense bonus and adding in equivalent missile deflection makes that a spell you do want to get early.and by 100 spellpower you could reach in the range of 100 defense. My mage put a few points in both magic and dex, and got to 112 defense, 119 with augmentation at 120 spellpower. Duplicate tomes, of course.

So I'm wondering a few things about this. First, does the wikia version generally match what people see on PC, or was that a misprint on the wikia. Second, did the version of the spell I observed is it the same on other consoles. Finally, which version of the spell do i put on the guide, assuming the wikia version is accurate for PC?

Numbers related to the console versions are often missing in the Wikia, so it might be the case here. The value as it were is accurate for the PC version. Regarding the guide, regardless of which version you choose to base it on, you might want to add a note addressing the difference between the two, and the consequences thereof.

Ok thanks Blazomancer. I had known the versions are sometimes different, so playing on console in general I'll rely on the wikia, but also recommend console users do some testing rather than take wikia numbers the same as console. For the guide, maybe wikia numbers in bold, console numbers in italics. When possible, I'll also test individuals spells and edit in any differences.

Another case in which I've noticed things are different on console is that the wikia states Bear Form has 50% nature resistance, which I can tell on console it doesn't. I'll assume it's similar to the Arcane Shield case in which it's true on PC, but not on console.
