Are there any spiders in the Hinterlands? I have a huge phobia and am trying to avoid areas where they might be.

They start to spawn in the Witchwood area near the apostate base after level 10 I think, but before that I haven't seen/noticed any. I have a minor fear of spiders myself, the DLC is a bit difficult for me. They are in majority of the zones sadly.

I have never seen any spiders in the Hinterlands. Bears, yes; spiders, no.

odd, I do every playthrough . When running through that canyon between the mage hideout and the river near redcliffe farms. It's only ever 1-3 at a time. I must just be lucky.

I don't recall any in the Hinterlands either. I've seen quite a few posts from people who are concerned about spiders in DA:I. Not saying that's bad, but I was surprised.

Yes, but the area is limited as mentioned above. However, one of them is rather large, so be prepared.

Occasionaly there are spiders attacking that druffalo you're supposed to escort. Sometimes it wolves, sometimes nothing at all.

 

But it's that passage where spiders can spawn anyway.

I'm pretty sure the spiders only spawn when you've finished Trouble with Wolves quest for the Dennets wife and that they only spawn in/near the Druffalo passage mentioned in the post above. Before you complete it there should only be wolves in that area.

I ran into the back of one accidentally. The thing was huge, it's back was bigger than my character.

On my first play through there was one area that had them but on subsequent play throughs they weren't there, weird.
