Ok so I found that locking on to a target is what lets you see a nice big health bar you can actually see as well as their level. (yeah took a long time due to the fact that you can't read a damn thing in the game). Well problem with that is the little icon that says their level, yeah I can't read that! It's like a very light grey with what a white number?! It should be changed so it's a darker grey so the white number can actually be seen please! Also a change should be made to allow you to still have the freedom of camera movement while locked onto a target! It is so lame that I can't (at least on console, in videos of pc gameplay it looks like you can still move the camera), move the camera at all if I'm locked onto a target! So I normally don't do it cause I like to be able to move the camera around as I please during battle, however those tiny little health bars over the enemy's head are really hard to see, AND you cannot see their level that way. So I would really love to see these changes added in a future update.

It sounds like you're using isometric view, and the camera does stay focused on your point of view, so you can't move it.  Switching to tactical mode might work better.  You'll still have to deal with the tiny printing, but the game pauses automatically when you go into tactical, so you can get out the magnifying glass or find your cheaters (like I do sometimes, you're not alone in being frustrated) and check out not only their health bar, but their vulnerability, resistance, and whether any status effects are active.  The controller doesn't work like a mouse and keyboard, so I can't tell you how to access tactical or what keys to hit while you're there to move the camera, but it does move.  You can even scout around the battlefield and pick who should go after which targets with what.  The problem is that the instructions on how to use it come in the same tiny printing as everything else and if you're already stressing, you're not in the mood for light reading with shades bearing down upon you.  I was on my 3rd playthrough before I was patient enough to even read the instructions, and it took several refresher checks in the codex and a bit of experimenting to learn to follow them.

As far as worrying about level, the color of the level icon is a pretty fair indicator of how tough the fight's going to be, so the numerical level isn't as important.  If the icon is white, chances are it's a fight you can do at your current level, even though you might come out limping.  If it's orange, you might want to think about making tracks and coming back later.  You can beat them, probably, but it's going to hurt a lot and the reward may not be worth the aggravation.  They really do a pretty good job of warning you that way.

I'm guessing since you mentioned mouse and keyboard you must play on pc? Yeah I know how to enter tactical mode (select on ps3) I read the instruction book not in game of course I can't really read anything well in there. (Wish I could cause I'd really love to read the codex entries!) I downloaded it from EA's site. :) And haha yeah I thought of the brilliant magnifying glass idea for crafting cause the text for what effects each crafting item has is WAY smaller than all the rest of the already too small text. But unfortunately because I have a standard def tv that idea doesn't work, since they do funny things to the text in all these hd games.

I did just go buy the guide book yesterday so I have tons of info now that in game you can't really read so that'll help. And thanks for the idea of using the tactical camera to at least look at their info, cause even if that is too small I think I can somewhat read it and can use that to look it up in my guide if need be. I also had no idea that the icon for their level changed colors that's cool, cause yeah like I said only just realized that that is how you get that to show up. (Watching a let's play on youtube she plays on pc and it made me wonder why I never saw the big health bar/level lol). Big thing with the level is wanting to see how their level compares to mine to see if I'm gonna get my butt kicked lol. Like a dragon I came across, first time I was getting kinda close to killing it but we were out of potions and that damned lighting of his! Second time I came back after getting a couple levels or so and was just doing horrible lol but a big thing that probably caused or greatly added to that was the fact that Sera somehow got glitched IN the world so she was no help.
