I won't take any longer than necessary. We all know Thedas has some incredible vistas, in Inquisition we see them the most. I like to take screenshots of them during my playthrough. I was thoroughly surprised that no such option to turn off the whole UI exists for this purpose, I can't actually remember a recent PC game where this wasn't possible. So yeah, this should be a thing for sure, maybe next patch given the minimal amount of work necessary to implement the feature desired.

Side question: I've owned DA:I just under 2 weeks and after DAYS of troubleshooting, Im finally operational and liking it a lot, give or take the occasional minor issue like this. Many such issues are often fixed by modders quicker. Does anyone know if there's any forum or thread (on these boards or others) where the community can suggest mod ideas?

Thanks.

Dragon age Nexus has a Community Patch up as well as various control tweaks, but no UI mod afaik. On these boards it's the DAI Modding group you'd like to look at. Your best bet would be their forum: http://daitools.freeforums.org
Since there is a portrait visibility toggle already further customization might be possible. Good luck

DAI Cinematic Tools will easily allow you to toggle the HUD/UI.

If you'd like some examples of what it can do as a tool, just take a look at my screenarchery in my Flickr link - no Photoshop. Everything is done via SweetFX and DAI Cinematic Tools.

I'm not super picky if I can't banish everything from the HUD/UI, and I have a severe aversion to modding, so I've pursued in-game ways to minimize gaminess for my desktops.  All can be performed while paused during combat even, if you like.  Go in your quest tracker and make sure all quests are marked inactive.  Change your HUD setting to never.  Use isometric view and make sure you have nothing targeted and your cursor isn't hovering over anything to light it up.  Remnants of old quests may appear very briefly, but if you very quickly unpause and pause again, they go away.  You may still have an occasional tracker or something, like the number of regions, so it doesn't work if you're looking for absolute perfection, but it's better than nothing and doesn't involve dealing with override folders and finding and uninstalling multiple files if mods conflict or they're incompatible with patches.

You can also use the console to disable the hud

ui.enable 0 or something (it will prompt you when you type it in)

DAI Cinematic Tools is not a mod at all. There are no override folders or worries about conflicts. You play DA:I as normal and then open up DAI Cinematic Tools as a separate executable which then hooks into the game. If you want to disable the HUD/UI, just hit the "delete" key. When you want it back, just hit "delete" again. Easy peasy.

This will also work to remove the conversation wheel and any subtitles from within cutscenes.

What a beautiful piece of information further advocating it should simply be mapped or mappable to a hotkey. Alt-Z anyone? As in at least 5 other games I've recently played including MMO's and RPG's?

Thanks for this though, didn't know it before.

Cheat Engine also gives this option.

Yes, however the console (aside from an option in the game) is the quickest and easiest way to do it.

Actually I'd say just hitting "delete" with DAI Cinematic Tools is quicker than opening the console and having to type it on and off. DAI Cinematic Tools totally spoiled me and now using the console again with Skyrim is driving me nuts!

Well, you have to download the tools first. But I guess if you are looking to do more than just general screenshots with the hud off it makes sense.
