I don't think they've officially specified that. Everyone's simply assuming you get the equivalent license you have for your current Windows version, but I personally think it's going to be a base version for as long as MS doesn't announce something to the contrary.

 

Which isn't exactly bad for me as I run on Win7 Home Premium, so it wouldn't be much of a stepdown, but going from Windows pro or say Ultimate would really suck if that really is the case.

For the average user who's only using the PC for gaming, internet browsing and writing some stuff in Word or whatever, yeah.

 

For professional users that work extensively with the PC, not so much.

if you have W7 home premium you will receive W10 pro according to QA page of MS.

i am curious however about specifics like is it x32 or x64 that sort of things. also here in russia people have their difficulties with 3rd party software. For example many applications for accounting may not work with x64 system at all. because... reasons i think.

 

many companies still run WinXP with SP1 believe or not. and those are foreign companies.

You can also force the update right now I think.

 

1. Open the Control Panel, choose Administrative Tools, and then fire up the Task Scheduler.
2. Expand Task Scheduler Library, then Microsoft, then Windows, and finally scroll down to expand Setup.
3. Click the folder GWXTriggers and on the far right hit Run.

This will only work if you have a legit copy of win 7 64 bit

Just had it pop up for me too and ehhhhh, very torn on it. I hated the time I spent with Win8 being PC fixer in my old house with a passion. Win7 has treated me well after side stepping the horror show that was Vista. So while part of me is curious about how 10's going to function, I also appreciate not really having to fight with most of my applications and games.

I got it, sticking with 7 though since I know nothing about 10 other than it can't possibly be as bad as 8.

I didn't get an invite but on my Windows 8 laptop I got a sign up for free upgrade notification.

Now I really can't wait to get rid of the God-awful Windows 8 and upgrade to 10.

you can upgrade to 8.1 even now. 

I can't stand win 8. All those auto fullscreen and touchscreen interface thing. I have 20 inch monitor no touch-function for heaven's sakes. And curiously enough, they don't play tablet games well even on a PC. which is hilarious

I have already upgraded to 8.1 a long time ago, but yeah, it's still pretty bad.

tch, million dollars machine only need a monitor and some crap OS for display. I've interned in a hospital and they still use 90's dot-matrix printer for the CK-MB machines. Where there's a will, there is a way..

There's a Windows 10 Preview. You can just download it off MS' site and try it out yourself.

I hope that I can really upgrade my Windows 7 PC to 10 without having to reinstall all my games and programs.
