I got it last weekend and I'm liking it so far.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread, but I'd recommend going into settings>privacy and setting those up. Virtually all the tracking is turned on by default, and apps are allowed to access parts of your PC like microphone and camera.

I also have to say that the new Edge browser is a lot better than IE was. It's actually usable.

Yup, changing your privacy settings is a must unless you want to be utterly transparent. Plus the obvious security risks.

And Edge ... well, I used Edge once, to download Firefox.

I suppose once Edge starts supporting plugins I might (emphasis and the might!!!) make the switch to it, but I'm really just waiting for a 64bit Firefox.

My 5 year old laptop got the icon..

How will an old 1.8ghz dual core celeron laptop with 4gigs ram go with this OS?

But even today why are laptops sold with puny 1.8ghz cpus?  Isn't that a bit slow?

I never really use plugins aside from adblock and development tools, but base Chrome is still better than Firebug in my opinion. Even base Edge is pretty good from what I've seen so far.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I never had any issues with Firefox.

I don't really have an issue with Firefox from a user point of view, I just don't like it as much as I do Chrome. From a developer point of view, the debugging tools always felt like they were lacking compared to Chrome. Even Edge I find to be better in that area, although still not as good as Chrome is.

Chrome is also faster than Firefox at the expense of your RAM, which being that I'm running a gaming PC that's not a huge concern for me that it's using up more. Edge seems to be faster as well, but I haven't looked too much into how inefficiently its using computer resources yet.

Yeah, Chrome, even filled with extensions, is still faster than the other web browsers. Edge isn't even close to Chrome in speed, especially if you only use things like adblock. Still faster than Firefox though.

Here is a handy trick to make shortcuts to windows settings.

There's a whole bunch of settings you can have as direct shortcuts

Well, I got it installed on my crap tablet -  1GB RAM, 16 GB HD, 512MB Intel HD Graphics. It's got a lighter footprint than Windows 8 thankfully! My Windows 8 install was always running low on HD space. However, I am definitely missing the horizontal scrolling, customizable bing news feeds (n windows 8 you could give it an RSS feed to show up as a new section), and the offline news mode (who was complaining about THAT?).

But, I got the tablet plugged in to a monitor and keyboard, and am definitely liking this as a desktop operating system.

[Edit]

Ooo.... first real problem! I upgraded my laptop and it looks like the latest GeForce drivers cause my GeForce 420M graphics card to crash, so no 3d games will currently run. The solution appears to be to downgrade the graphics driver, but I'll wait a few weeks and see if NVidia resolves the problem first.

OK anyone having issues with Cortana?

It's not doing the chit chat any more like telling you about reminders or such when you ask it.  No talking back only popping search results..

I did my laptop upgrade today.

Worked fine for 2 1/2 hours then the laptop bricked ...  Couldn't access the BIOS or boot from DVD to use the repair disk.

Corrupt BIOS. Did you flash and/or update your BIOS before upgrading your OS? Is your laptop beeping when you try start up?

What you can try is remove the battery, power cord and any external devices, wait for a solid while, then press the On button and hold it for around 30 seconds. Insert the battery again and try to start.

If that didn't work, remove the CMOS battery on your motherboard aswell and repeat above steps. Refer to your laptop instruction manual for that case, you don't want to wreck your laptop even worse by pulling out the wrong stuff from your motherboard.

Is it powering on at all? Could be a power supply/battery issue.

I've encountered a problem with ME2 and ME3 on Win 10 today. I got this almost immediately after I boot up ME3 a few minutes after I'm done with upgrades but its gone after I restart. Now its persistent.. somehow its related to the ENB presets. Fortunately, the game works fine after I deleted all of them.

No it's weird. NO I didn't flash the BIOS as there is none for my model anywhere online.

I put a blank drive in and the BIOS works and all.

Don't think you can disable the login, but you can use a PIN instead of your account-password.

YES YOU CAN!!!!

right click start button

cllick run

type netplwiz

uncheck the box marked needs to login with password. It will ask for the password but once done you never need to log in again.

I agree about Edge. Although Chrome has only gotten better for me, so I'm sticking with it. It ships around with an amazing swiftness that I've been impressed with. Big upgrade over 8, in my book.

finally fixed the laptop after many, many hours of frustration.

Nearly wanted to introduce it to a hammer at one point..

Now to just wait for the GWX thing to do it's job. I just might wait to let it download by itself.. But will have contingencies in case.

I downloaded a ESD from here

Tried to make a bootable USB using rufus but the USB won't work as a bootable device..
